Hadith Beginning with the Letter Ya (ي)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Aishah! When have you ever found me foul-mouthed? The worst of people in rank with Allah on the Day of Resurrection is the one whom people leave alone to guard against his evil."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Aishah! Do not keep count when giving charity, or else Allah will also keep count of His giving to you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Aishah! Do not be foul-mouthed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O servants of Allah! Seek treatment, for Allah has not created any disease without also creating a cure for it, except for one disease: old age."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O servants of Allah! Allah has removed hardship, except for the one who unjustly attacks the honour of a Muslim; it is he who falls into hardship and is ruined."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abbas! Are you not amazed at Mughith's love for Barirah and Barirah's hatred for Mughith?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abbas! O my uncle! Shall I not give you something? Shall I not grant you something? Shall I not present you with a gift? Shall I not tell you of ten things which, if you do them, Allah will forgive your sins, the first and the last, the old and the new, the unintentional and the deliberate, the small and the great, the hidden and the open? These ten things are: you pray four rak'ahs, reciting in each rak'ah Surah al-Fatihah and another surah. Then, when you have finished the recitation in the first rak'ah while standing, say fifteen times: 'Subhan Allah, wal-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar' (Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest). Then bow, and say it ten times while bowing. Then raise your head from bowing and say it ten times. Then go down in prostration and say it ten times while prostrating. Then raise your head from prostration and say it ten times. Then prostrate a second time and say it ten times. Then raise your head and say it ten times. That makes seventy-five in each rak'ah; do this in four rak'ahs. Even if your sins were like the foam of the sea or the sand of the desert, Allah would forgive them. If you can, pray it once every day; if you cannot, then once every Friday; if you cannot, then once every month; if you cannot, then once every year; and if you cannot, then be sure to pray it once in your lifetime."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abbas! O uncle of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Ask Allah for well-being in this world and the Hereafter."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abd al-Rahman! Take your sister and have her perform Umrah from al-Tan'im."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abd al-Rahman! Seat your sister Aishah behind you and have her perform Umrah from al-Tan'im, and when you descend with her from the hillock, tell her to enter the state of ihram, for it will be an accepted Umrah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah! Do not ask for leadership, for if it is given to you because you asked for it, you will be left to it on your own; and if it is given to you without your asking, you will be helped in it by Allah. And when you swear an oath and then see something else better than it, make expiation for your oath and do what is better."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abdullah! Have I not been told that you fast during the day and stand in prayer at night? Do not do so, for if you do that, your eyes will become sunken and your body will grow weak. Fast and also break your fast, stand in prayer and also rest, for your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, and your wife has a right over you. It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, for the reward of every good deed is ten times its like, so that will be equal to fasting perpetually." He said: I have the strength for more than that. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then fast the fast of the Prophet of Allah Dawud (peace be upon him) and do not do more than that; it is equal to fasting half of one's life."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abdullah! If Allah admits you into Paradise, all of this will be yours, along with whatever your heart desires and whatever delights your eye."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abdullah bin Qays! Shall I not tell you of a phrase which is one of the treasures of Paradise? It is: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no power to avoid sin and no strength to do good except from Allah)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abdullah! Do not be like so-and-so; he used to stand in prayer at night, then he abandoned the night prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Uthman! Have you turned away from my way?! I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. O Uthman! Fear Allah, for your family has a right over you, your guest has a right over you, and your own self has a right over you. So fast and also break your fast, pray and also rest."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Uthman! Allah will clothe you with a shirt, so if the hypocrites try to force you to take it off, do not take it off until you come to meet me."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Uqbah! Shall I not teach you the two best surahs that have ever been recited? 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak' and 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind'. O Uqbah! Recite them every time you go to sleep and every time you get up. No one who asks has ever asked by anything like them, and no one who seeks refuge has ever sought refuge by anything like them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Uqbah bin Amir! Seek refuge with these two, for no one who seeks refuge has ever sought refuge by anything like them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Uqbah! 'Say: He is Allah, the One', 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak' and 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind'; no one has ever sought refuge by anything like them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ali! Are you not pleased that your position in relation to me is like that of Harun (peace be upon him) in relation to Musa (peace be upon him)? Except that there is no prophet after me."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ali! Ask Allah for guidance and for being on target. When you pray for guidance, keep in mind being guided straight along a road, and when you pray for being on target, keep in mind an arrow hitting its mark."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ali! Do not follow one glance with another, for the first glance is forgiven for you, but the second is not permitted for you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ali! Do not sit on your buttocks like a dog."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O uncle! Shall I not give you something? Shall I not give you a gift? Shall I not benefit you? O uncle! Pray four rak'ahs, reciting in each rak'ah Surah al-Fatihah and another surah. Then, when the recitation is finished, say fifteen times before bowing: 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), 'wal-hamdu lillah' (and all praise is for Allah), 'wa subhan Allah' (and glory be to Allah) and 'wa la ilaha illallah' (and there is no god but Allah). Then bow and say it ten times before raising your head; then raise your head and say it ten times before prostrating; then prostrate and say it ten times before raising your head; then raise your head and say it ten times; then make the second prostration and say it ten times; then raise your head and say it ten times before standing up. That makes seventy-five in each rak'ah, and three hundred in four rak'ahs. Then even if your sins were like the foam of the sea or the sand of the desert, Allah would forgive them for you. If you are unable to pray it every day, then pray it every Friday; if you cannot do that, then pray it every month; and if you cannot do that, then pray it every year."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Awf! Remember six things before the Hour: first, my death; then the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis; then an epidemic that will spread among you, through which Allah will grant martyrdom to your offspring and yourselves and will purify your wealth; then wealth will become so abundant among you that a man will be given a hundred dinars and still remain displeased; then a tribulation will arise among you that will not leave a single Muslim home without entering it; then there will be a truce between you and Banu al-Asfar, but they will betray it and march against you under eighty banners, with twelve thousand soldiers under each banner."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O boy! I will teach you some words: Guard (the rights of) Allah and Allah will guard you; guard (the rights of) Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah alone, and when you seek help, seek help from Allah alone. And know that if the entire nation gathered together to benefit you with something, they could benefit you only with what Allah has already written for you; and if they all gathered together to harm you with something, they could harm you only with what Allah has already written against you. The pens have dried and the scrolls have been lifted."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O boy! Say Bismillah (in the name of Allah), eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O boy! This is your father and this is your mother; take the hand of whichever of the two you wish."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Fatimah! Shave this child's head and give in charity silver equal to the weight of his hair."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Fatimah! Are you not pleased to be the leader of the believing women?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Fatimah! Would it please you for people to say that Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, has a chain of fire in her hand?!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O so-and-so! Which would be more beloved to you: that you enjoy him (your child) throughout your life, or that tomorrow you do not come to any of the gates of Paradise except that you find he has gone ahead of you to it, opening it for you?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O so-and-so! Can you not perform your prayer properly? Does the one who prays not look at how he is praying? He is only praying for his own sake. By Allah! I see behind me just as I see in front of me."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Qabisah! Asking (for help) is lawful only for one of three people: a man who has taken upon himself a financial liability (blood money) for the sake of reconciliation; asking is lawful for him until he pays it off, then he should stop. Second, a man who has been struck by a calamity that has destroyed all his wealth; asking is lawful for him until he obtains enough to live on. Third, a man who has been afflicted by such destitution that three sensible people from his people testify that so-and-so has been afflicted by destitution; then asking is lawful for him until he obtains enough to live on, then he should stop. Asking other than this is unlawful, and the one who asks consumes unlawful wealth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Mu'adh! Are you one who causes trouble (fitnah)? Why did you not lead the prayer reciting 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High', 'By the sun and its morning brightness' or 'By the night when it covers'? For behind you pray the old, the weak and the one who has some need."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Mu'adh bin Jabal! Whoever testifies sincerely from his heart that 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no god worthy of worship except Allah) and that I am the Messenger of Allah, Allah makes him forbidden for the Fire." Mu'adh said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not tell the people so that they may rejoice? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then they would give up deeds and rely on this alone."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Mu'adh bin Jabal! Do you know what the right of Allah over His servants is, and what the right of the servants over Allah is? The right of Allah over the servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the servants over Allah is that He does not punish anyone who does not associate anything with Him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Mu'adh! By Allah, I love you. I advise you, O Mu'adh: never leave off saying after every prayer: 'Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik' (O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You and to worship You in the best manner)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ansar! Did I not find you astray, and then Allah guided you through me? And you were divided, and then Allah united you through me? And you were poor, and then Allah made you rich through me? Are you not pleased that the people should go away with sheep and camels while you take the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) back to your homes? Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been one of the Ansar; and if the people were to go through a valley and a mountain pass, I would go through the valley and mountain pass of the Ansar. The Ansar are my inner garment and the rest of the people are the outer garment. After me you will face others being preferred over you in your rights, so be patient until you meet me at the Pond (Hawd)."
