Hadith Beginning with the Letter Ya (ي)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ansar! Keep your wealth for yourselves and do not give it away as 'umra (a lifetime grant), for whoever gives something as 'umra for a lifetime, it becomes the property of the one it was given to, both in his life and after his death."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ansar! What is this that has reached me about you? Are you not pleased that the people should go away with wealth while you go away with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), until you bring him into your homes? If all the people took one mountain pass and the Ansar took another, I would take the mountain pass of the Ansar."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O traders! Shaytan and sin are present in buying and selling, so mix your buying and selling with charity."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O traders! Idle talk and oaths are present in this buying and selling, so mix it with charity."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O young men! Whoever among you is able to marry, let him marry, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and in guarding the private parts. And whoever is not able, let him fast, for it is for him like castration in breaking desire."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O poor people! Shall I not give you glad tidings? The poor among the believers will enter Paradise half a day before their rich, and that half day will be five hundred years."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Muslims! There is no prayer for the one who does not keep his back straight in bowing and prostration."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Muhajirun! There are five things; if you are afflicted with them, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you should encounter them, great harm will follow: Whenever immorality spreads among a people to the extent that they commit it openly, plague and diseases spread among them which never existed among their predecessors who passed away before them. And those who give short measure and weight are seized with famine, severe hardship and the tyranny of their rulers. And those who withhold the zakah of their wealth have the rain from the sky withheld from them, and were it not for the animals, they would receive no rain at all. And those who break the covenant of Allah and the covenant of His Messenger, Allah sets over them an enemy from outside their own people who seizes some of what is in their hands. And those whose rulers do not judge according to the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and do not reflect upon what Allah has revealed, Allah causes them to fight against one another."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O company of the Muhajirun and the Ansar! Among your brothers are people who have neither wealth nor family, so let each one of you take two or three men with him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O women! Give charity and seek forgiveness abundantly, for I have seen that you make up the majority of the people of Hell. You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone deficient in intellect and religion who overpowers the mind of a sensible man more than you. As for the deficiency in intellect, it is that the testimony of two women equals the testimony of one man; this is the deficiency in intellect. And the deficiency in religion is that you spend several nights without praying and do not fast in Ramadan; this is the deficiency in religion."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O women! Give charity, even if it is from your jewellery, for you will make up the majority of the people of Hell on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O people of Quraysh! Save yourselves from the punishment of Allah; I cannot avail you anything against Allah. O Banu Abd Manaf! Save yourselves from Allah; I cannot avail you anything against Allah. O Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything against Allah. O Safiyyah, aunt of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I cannot avail you anything against Allah. O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad! Ask me for whatever you wish of my wealth, but I cannot avail you anything against Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O people of Quraysh! Save yourselves from the Fire, for I have no power to cause you harm or benefit against Allah. O people of Banu Abd Manaf! Save yourselves from the Fire, for I have no power to cause you harm or benefit against Allah. O people of Banu Abd al-Muttalib! Save yourselves from the Fire, for I have no power to cause you harm or benefit. O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad! Save yourself from the Fire, for I have no power to cause you harm or benefit. However, you are my kin, and I will fulfil the right of that kinship in this world."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O you who have believed with your tongues while faith has not entered your hearts! Do not backbite the Muslims and do not pry into their faults, for whoever pries into the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will pry into his faults, and whoever Allah pries into his faults, He will disgrace him, even if he is inside his own house."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O you who have become Muslims with your tongues while faith has not entered your hearts! Do not harm the Muslims, do not taunt them and do not pry into their faults, for whoever pries into the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will pry into his faults, and whoever Allah pries into his faults, He will disgrace him, even if he is inside his own tent."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O company of Jews! Accept Islam and you will be safe. Know that the land belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and I intend to expel you from this land. So whoever among you finds something in exchange for his property, let him sell it; otherwise, know that the land belongs to Allah and His Messenger."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Turner of hearts! Keep my heart firm upon Your religion."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Turner of hearts! Keep our hearts firm upon Your religion."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Muslim women! Let no neighbour look down upon (the gift of) her neighbour, even if it is only the hoof of a sheep."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Hazzal! Had you covered him with your garment, it would have been better for you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Dajjal will come to Madinah and find the angels guarding it, so, if Allah Almighty wills, neither the Dajjal nor the plague will enter it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Dajjal will come, and it will be forbidden for him to enter any of the mountain passes of Madinah, so he will halt in one of the salty plains near Madinah. On that day a man who is the best of people, or one of the best of people, will come out to him and say to him: 'I bear witness that you are the Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us.' The Dajjal will say: 'Tell me, if I kill this man and then bring him back to life, will you have any doubt about the matter?' The people will say: 'No.' So he will kill him and then bring him back to life, and when he is brought back to life the man will say: 'By Allah, I have never had clearer insight about you than I have today.' Then the Dajjal will want to kill him again, but he will not be given power over him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Satan comes to one of you and says: 'Who created such-and-such? Who created such-and-such?' until he says: 'Who created your Lord?' So when this whisper reaches him, let him seek refuge with Allah and stop at that thought."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Qur'an will come along with its people who used to act upon it in the world, led by Surah al-Baqarah and Al Imran. The two of them will come as though they were two clouds with light between them, or as though they were two black clouds, or as though they were two flocks of birds with outspread wings, and the two of them will plead on behalf of the one who recited them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Masih al-Dajjal will come from the direction of the east, intending to attack Madinah, until he halts behind Uhud. Then the angels will turn his face towards Sham, and there he will perish."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man from the people of Paradise will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to him: 'O son of Adam! How did you find your abode?' He will say: 'O Lord! The best of abodes.' Allah will say: 'Ask and wish.' He will say: 'O Lord! I do not ask for anything, nor do I wish for anything, except that You send me back to the world so that I may be killed in Your path ten times,' because of the excellence of martyrdom he sees. And a man from the people of Hell will be brought, and it will be said to him: 'O son of Adam! How did you find your abode?' He will say: 'O Lord! The worst of abodes.' Allah will say: 'Would you ransom yourself from it with the earth's fill of gold?' He will say: 'O Lord! Yes.' Allah will say: 'You have lied. I asked of you something less and easier than that, but you did not do it.' So he will be returned to Hell."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A servant will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him: 'Did I not give you hearing, sight, wealth and children? Did I not subject cattle and crops to you? Did I not give you leadership and a life of ease? So did you believe that you would meet this Day of yours?' He will say: 'No.' Then Allah will say: 'Today I will forget you just as you forgot Me.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Death will be brought in the form of a black-and-white ram until it is made to stand on the wall between Paradise and Hell. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise!' and they will crane their necks to look. And it will be said: 'O people of Hell!' and they too will crane their necks to look. Then it will be said: 'Do you recognise this?' They will say: 'Yes, this is death.' Then it will be laid down and slaughtered. So had Allah not decreed eternal life for the people of Paradise, they would have died of joy, and had Allah not decreed eternal life in it for the people of Hell, they would have died of grief."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and made to stand on the Sirat. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise!' and they will look out, frightened and fearful that they may be taken out of the place they are in. Then it will be said: 'O people of Hell!' and they will look out, happy and hopeful that they may be taken out of the place they are in. Then it will be said: 'Do you recognise this?' They will say: 'Yes, this is death.' Then a command will be given concerning it and it will be slaughtered on the Sirat. Then it will be said to both groups: 'Now there is eternity in the state you are in; there will never be death in it.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one of the people of Hell who enjoyed the most luxury in the world will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and dipped once into Hell. Then it will be said to him: 'O son of Adam! Did you ever see any good? Did any blessing ever pass by you?' He will say: 'No, by Allah, O Lord.' And the one of the people of Paradise who suffered the most hardship in the world will be brought and dipped once into Paradise. Then it will be said to him: 'O son of Adam! Did you ever see any hardship? Did any difficulty ever pass by you?' He will say: 'No, by Allah, O Lord! No hardship ever passed by me, nor did I ever see any difficulty.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Hell will be brought on that Day with seventy thousand reins, and with each rein will be seventy thousand angels dragging it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A time will come upon people when the one who remains steadfast upon his religion among them will be like one holding a burning ember in his fist."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A time will come upon people when a man will not care where he obtained his wealth from, whether from what is lawful or from what is unlawful."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A time will come upon people when a man will call his cousin and his relative: 'Come to ease! Come to ease!' whereas Madinah would be better for them if only they knew. By the One in whose Hand is my soul, none of them will leave it out of aversion to it except that Allah will settle in it in his place someone better than him. Behold! Madinah is like a furnace that expels impurity. The Hour will not be established until Madinah expels its wicked people just as the furnace removes the impurity of iron."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A time will come upon people when a group of people will go out on campaign and they will be asked: 'Is there among you a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?' They will say: 'Yes.' So victory will be opened for them. Then another time will come upon people when a group of people will go out on campaign and they will be asked: 'Is there among you a companion of a Companion?' They will say: 'Yes.' So victory will be opened for them. Then another time will come upon people when a group of people will go out on campaign and they will be asked: 'Is there among you a companion of a companion of a Companion?' They will say: 'Yes.' So victory will be opened for them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"In the last times there will come a people young in age and foolish in mind. They will speak the best words of creation, yet they will pass out of Islam just as an arrow passes through the game. Their faith will not go beyond their throats. So kill them, for in killing them there is a reward on the Day of Resurrection for the one who kills them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man is rewarded for all his spending except for spending on earth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A mukatab (a slave who has contracted to buy his freedom) will receive the blood money of a free man in proportion to the amount of his freedom price that he has paid, and the blood money of a slave in proportion to what remains."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Allah, the Compeller, will take His heavens and His earth in His Hand, then He will say: 'I am the Compeller, I am the King. Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The people of Paradise will eat and drink in it, but they will not blow their noses, nor relieve themselves, nor urinate. Rather, after their food there will only be belching and sweat like musk. Glorification and praise will be inspired in them just as breathing happens by itself."
