«يؤتى بالموت كأنه كبش أملح حتى يوقف على السور بين الجنة والنار فيقال: يا أهل الجنة! فيشرئبون ويقال: يا أهل النار! فيشرئبون فيقال: هل تعرفون هذا؟ فيقولون: نعم هذا الموت فيضجع ويذبح فلولا أن الله قضى لأهل الجنة الحياة والبقاء لماتوا فرحا ولولا أن الله قضى لأهل النار الحياة فيها لماتوا ترحا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Death will be brought in the form of a black-and-white ram until it is made to stand on the wall between Paradise and Hell. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise!' and they will crane their necks to look. And it will be said: 'O people of Hell!' and they too will crane their necks to look. Then it will be said: 'Do you recognise this?' They will say: 'Yes, this is death.' Then it will be laid down and slaughtered. So had Allah not decreed eternal life for the people of Paradise, they would have died of joy, and had Allah not decreed eternal life in it for the people of Hell, they would have died of grief."
