«يا آل محمد! من حج منكم فليهل بعمرة في حجته»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O family of Muhammad! Whoever among you performs Hajj, let him also enter ihram for Umrah within his Hajj."

«يا أبا بكر! إن لكل قوم عيدا وهذا عيدنا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Bakr! Every people has an Eid, and this is our Eid."

«يا أبا بكر! قل: اللهم فاطر السموات والأرض عالم الغيب والشهادة لا إله إلا أنت رب كل شيء ومليكه أعوذ بك من شر نفسي ومن شر الشيطان وشركه وأن أقترف على نفسي سوءا أو أجره إلى مسلم»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Bakr! Say: O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord and Sovereign of everything, there is no true god except You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self, and from the evil of Satan and his polytheism, and from committing any evil against myself or bringing it upon any Muslim."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Bakr! What do you think of two whose third is Allah?"

«يا أبا ثعلبة: كل ما ردت عليك قوسك وكلبك المعلم ويدك ذكي وغير ذكي»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Tha'labah! Whatever (game) your bow, your trained dog and your hand bring back to you, eat it, whether it has been slaughtered or not."

"يا أبا ذر! أترى أن كثرة المال هوالغنى؟ إنما الغنى غنى القلب والفقر فقر القلب من كان الغنى في قلبه فلا يضره ما لقي من الدنيا ومن كان الفقر في قلبه فلا يغنيه ما أكثر له في الدنيا وإنما يضر نفسه شحها"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! Do you think that abundance of wealth is richness (self-sufficiency)? True richness is only the richness of the heart, and true poverty is the poverty of the heart. Whoever has richness in his heart, nothing of this world harms him; and whoever has poverty in his heart, even the abundance of this world does not make him rich; and nothing harms him except the greed of his own self."

"O Abu Dharr! When you fast three days of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth."

«يا أبا ذر! أرأيت إن أصاب الناس جوع شديد لا تستطيع أن تقوم من فراشك إلى مسجدك كيف تصنع؟ تعفف ; يا أبا ذر؟ أرأيت إن أصاب الناس موت شديد يكون البيت فيه بالعبد - يعني القبر - كيف تصنع؟ اصبر ; يا أبا ذر: أرأيت إن قتل الناس بعضهم بعضا حتى تغرق حجارة الزيت من الدماء كيف تصنع؟ اقعد في بيتك وأغلق عليك بابك قال: فإن لم أترك؟ قال: فأت من كنت معه فكن فيهم قال: فآخذ سلاحي؟ قال: إذن تشاركهم فيما هم فيه ولكن إن خشيت أن يردعك شعاع السيف فألق من طرف ردائك على وجهك كي يبوء بإثمه وإثمك ويكون من أصحاب النار»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! What do you think, if severe hunger afflicts the people, to the point that you cannot even get up from your bed to go to your mosque, what will you do? (He said:) Refrain from asking. O Abu Dharr! What do you think, if severe death befalls the people, to the point that a house (the grave) is obtained for (the price of) a slave, what will you do? (He said:) Be patient. O Abu Dharr! What do you think, if the people kill one another until the stones of al-Zayt are drowned in blood, what will you do? (He said:) Sit in your house and close your door. Abu Dharr said: What if I am not left alone? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then go to those you belong with and be among them. He said: Should I then take up my weapon? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then you would become their partner in that (tribulation) they are in. But if you fear that the gleam of the sword will overwhelm you (and drive you to fight), then throw the edge of your cloak over your face, so that he (the killer) returns bearing his own sin and the sin of killing you, and becomes one of the people of the Fire."

«يا أبا ذر! ألا أدلك على كنز من كنوز الجنة؟: لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! Shall I not tell you of a treasure from the treasures of Paradise? It is: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no power to avoid sin and no strength to do good except through Allah)."

«يا أبا ذر! ألا أعلمك كلمات تقولهن تلحق من سبقك ولا يدركك إلا من أخذ بعملك؟ تكبر دبر كل صلاة ثلاثا وثلاثين وتسبح ثلاثا وثلاثين وتحمد ثلاثا وثلاثين وتختم بلا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير من قال ذلك غفرت له ذنوبه ولو كانت مثل زبد البحر»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! Shall I not teach you some words which, if you say them, you will catch up with those who have gone ahead of you, and no one will overtake you except one who does the like of your deeds? After every prayer, say Allahu akbar thirty-three times, say Subhan Allah thirty-three times, say Al-hamdu lillah thirty-three times, and conclude with 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' (There is no true god except Allah, alone, without partner; to Him belongs the dominion, to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things). Whoever says that, his sins are forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea."

«يا أبا ذر! إنك امرؤ فيك جاهلية إنهم إخوانكم فضلكم الله عليهم فمن لم يلائمكم فبيعوه ولا تعذبوا خلق الله»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! You are a man in whom a trace of the Days of Ignorance remains. These (slaves) are your brothers; Allah has given you precedence over them. So whoever does not suit you, sell him, and do not torment the creation of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! You are weak, and this (authority) is a trust, and on the Day of Resurrection it will be a cause of disgrace and regret, except for the one who takes it with its right and fulfils what is due from him in it."

«يا أبا ذر! إنه سيكون بعدي أمراء يميتون الصلاة فصل الصلاة لوقتها فإن صليت لوقتها كانت لك نافلة وإلا كنت قد أحرزت صلاتك»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! After me there will be rulers who will kill the prayer (that is, not offer it on time). So offer the prayer at its time; then if you (also) pray (with them) at its time, it will be a voluntary prayer for you; otherwise, you will already have secured your (obligatory) prayer."

«يا أبا ذر إني أراك ضعيفا وإني أحب لك ما أحب لنفسي لا تتأمرن على اثنين ولا تولين مال يتيم»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! I see that you are weak, and I love for you what I love for myself: do not become the leader even over two people, and do not take charge of the wealth of an orphan."

«يا أبا ذر! ما أحب أن لي أحدا ذهبا أمسى ثالثة وعندي منه دينار إلا دينارا أرصده لدين إلا أن أقول به في عباد الله هكذا وهكذا وهكذا يا أبا ذر! الأكثرون هم الأقلون إلا من قال هكذا وهكذا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! I would not like to have gold equal to (Mount) Uhud and for three nights to pass while a single dinar of it still remains with me, except a dinar that I keep aside for paying a debt, unless I (distribute) it among the servants of Allah like this, and like this, and like this. O Abu Dharr! Those who have the most (wealth) are the ones with the least (reward), except the one who (spends) it like this and like this."
"O Abu Dharr! «يا أبا ذر! هل تدري أين تذهب الشمس إذا غابت؟ فإنها تذهب حتى تأتي العرش فتسجد بين يدي ربها فتستأذن في الرجوع فيأذن لها وكأنها قد قيل لها: ارجعى من حيث جئت فتطلع من مغربها فذلك مستقرها»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun goes after it sets? It goes to the Throne and prostrates before its Lord, and asks permission to return, and it is given permission; and it is near that it will be told: Return from where you came, and it will rise from its place of setting. That is its resting place."

«يا أبا سعيد! من رضي بالله ربا وبالإسلام دينا وبمحمد نبيا وجبت له الجنة وأخرى يرفع بها العبد مائة درجة في الجنة ما بين كل درجتين كما بين السماء والأرض الجهاد في سبيل الله الجهاد في سبيل الله»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Sa'id! Whoever is pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as Prophet, Paradise becomes obligatory for him. And there is another thing by which a servant is raised one hundred degrees in Paradise, the distance between every two degrees being like the distance between the heaven and the earth: that thing is jihad in the path of Allah, jihad in the path of Allah."
"O Abu Sa'id! Whoever is pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as Prophet, Paradise becomes obligatory for him. «يا أبا عمير! ما فعل النغير؟»

"O Abu Umayr! How is your little bird (nughayr)?"

«يا أبا موسى! لقد أوتيت مزمارا من مزامير آل داود»

"O Abu Musa! You have indeed been given a melodious voice like the voices of the family of Dawud (peace be upon him)."

«يا أبا هريرة! جف القلم بما أنت لاق فاختص على ذلك أو ذر»

"O Abu Hurayrah! The pen has dried with what you are going to meet. So castrate yourself on that account, or leave it."

«يا أبا هريرة! كن ورعا تكن من أعبد الناس وارض بما قسم الله لك تكن من أغنى الناس وأحب للمسلمين والمؤمنين ما تحب لنفسك وأهل بيتك واكره لهم ما تكره لنفسك وأهل بيتك تكن مؤمنا وجأور من جأورت بإحسان تكن مسلما وإياك وكثرة الضحك فإن كثرة الضحك فساد القلب»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Abu Hurayrah! Be scrupulous in piety and you will be among the most devoted worshippers; be content with what Allah has allotted you and you will be among the richest of people; love for the Muslims and the believers what you love for yourself and your household, and dislike for them what you dislike for yourself and your household, and you will be a believer; treat well whoever you live alongside, and you will be a Muslim; and beware of much laughter, for much laughter is a corruption of the heart."
"O Abu Hurayrah! «يا ابن آدم! إنك أن تبذل الفضل خير لك وأن تمسكه شر لك ولا تلام على كفاف وابدأ بمن تعول واليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى»

"O son of Adam! Spending your surplus wealth is better for you, and holding on to it is bad for you, and you will not be blamed for keeping what suffices your needs. Begin with those whose support is your responsibility; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ibn al-Akwa'! You have prevailed, so be gentle."

«يا ابن الخصاصية! ما أصبحت تنقم على الله؟ أصبحت تماشي رسول الله»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ibn al-Khasasiyyah! What objection do you have against Allah, when you are walking in the morning alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?"

«يا ابن الخطاب! اذهب فناد في الناس: إنه لا يدخل الجنة إلا المؤمنون»

"O Ibn al-Khattab! Go and announce among the people that none will enter Paradise except the believers."

"يا ابن حوالة! إذا رأيت الخلافة قد نزلت الأرض المقدسة فقد دنت الزلازل والبلابل والأمور العظام والساعة يومئذ أقرب من الناس من يدي هذه من رأسك "
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ibn Hawalah! When you see that the caliphate has settled in the Holy Land, then earthquakes, turmoil and momentous affairs have drawn near, and on that day the Hour will be as close to the people as this hand of mine is to your head."

«يا ابن عابس» [! ألا أخبرك بأفضل ما تعوذ به المتعوذون؟: {قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ} و {قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ} هاتين السورتين]

"O Ibn Abis! Shall I not tell you of the best thing with which those who seek refuge seek refuge? It is these two surahs: 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak' (Surah al-Falaq) and 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind' (Surah al-Nas)."

«يا ابن عوف! اركب فرسك ثم ناد: إن الجنة لا تحل إلا لمؤمن»

"O Ibn Awf! Mount your horse, then call out: Paradise is lawful only for a believer."

«يا أبي: إن ربي تبارك وتعالى أرسل إلي أن اقرأ القرآن على حرف فرددت إليه: أن هون على أمتي فأرسل إلي الثانية أن اقرأه على حرفين فرددت إليه أن هون على أمتي فأرسل إلي الثالثة: أن اقرأه على سبعة أحرف ولك بكل ردة رددتها مسألة تسألنيها فقلت: اللهم اغفر لأمتي اللهم اغفر لأمتي وأخرت الثالثة ليوم يرغب إلي فيه الخلق كلهم حتى إبراهيم»

"O Ubayy! My Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, sent word to me that the Qur'an should be recited in one mode of recitation, so I replied: Make it easy for my Ummah. Then He sent word a second time that it should be recited in two modes, so I again replied: Make it easy for my Ummah. Then He sent word a third time that it should be recited in seven modes, and that for every reply you sent back you have the right to one supplication which you may ask of Me. So I said: O Allah, forgive my Ummah! O Allah, forgive my Ummah! And I have deferred the third supplication for the day on which all of creation will turn to me, even Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."

"O Ubayy! I was taught to recite the Qur'an, and it was said to me: In one mode or in two? The angel who was with me said: Say, in two. I said: In two. Then it was said to me: In two or in three? The angel who was with me said: Say, in three. I said: In three, until it reached seven modes. Then it was said: Each of them is healing and sufficient, whether you say at the end of a verse 'Sami'an Alima' (All-Hearing, All-Knowing) or 'Azizan Hakima' (Almighty, All-Wise), so long as you do not end a verse of punishment with mercy or a verse of mercy with punishment."

«يا أسامة! أتشفع في حد من حدود الله؟!»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Usamah! Do you intercede regarding one of the prescribed punishments (hudud) of Allah?!"

«يا أسامة! كيف تصنع بلا إله إلا الله إذا جاءت يوم القيامة؟!»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Usamah! What will you do with 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no true god except Allah) when it comes on the Day of Resurrection?!"

«يا أسماء! إن المرأة إذا بلغت المحيض لم يصلح أن يرى منها شيء إلا هذا وهذا» - وأشار إلى وجهه وكفيه -
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Asma'! When a woman reaches puberty, it is not proper for any part of her to be seen except this and this - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to his face and his two palms."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Ashajj! You have two qualities that Allah loves: forbearance and deliberateness."

«يا أعرابي! إن الله غضب على سبطين من بني إسرائيل فمسخهم دواب يدبون في الأرض فلا أدري لعل هذا منها يعني الضب فلست آكلها ولا أنهى عنها»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Bedouin! Allah became angry with two tribes of the Children of Israel and transformed them into creatures that creep upon the earth. I do not know; perhaps this (meaning the dabb lizard) is one of them. So I do not eat it, nor do I forbid it."
