Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you loves his friend, he should go to his house and tell him that he loves him for the sake of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He protects him from the world (its trials and evils) just as one of you protects his sick person from (harmful) water."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He calls Jibril (peace be upon him): 'Allah loves so-and-so, so you love him too.' So Jibril also comes to love him. Then Jibril calls out among the inhabitants of the heaven: 'Allah Almighty loves so-and-so, so you love him too.' So the inhabitants of the heaven also come to love him, and then acceptance is placed for him among the people of the earth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He calls Jibril (peace be upon him) and says: 'I have loved so-and-so, so you love him too.' So he calls out in the heaven, and then love for him is sent down on the earth. This is the meaning of the saying of Allah Almighty: 'Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection (in hearts).' [Surah Maryam: 96] And when Allah Almighty hates a servant, He calls Jibril and says: 'I hate so-and-so.' So he calls out in the heaven, and then hatred and aversion for him are sent down on the earth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty loves a people, He puts them to trial."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the ablution of any of you breaks during his prayer, he should hold his nose and then leave (the prayer to perform ablution)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you makes his Islam excellent, then every good deed he does is recorded for him multiplied from ten times its like up to seven hundred times, and every bad deed he does is recorded for him only as its equal, until he meets Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the seller and the buyer fall into disagreement, the seller's word will be accepted, and the buyer will have the option (to uphold or cancel the sale)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the buyer and the seller fall into disagreement and neither of them has any witness, the decision will be what the owner of the goods says, or else the two of them abandon the sale."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the buyer and the seller fall into disagreement, there is no witness between them, and the item sold is still present in its original state, then the word will be what the seller said, or else the two of them abandon the transaction (sale)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you disagree about (the width of) a road, fix it at seven cubits."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you go to your bed at night, recite 'Say: O disbelievers' [Surah al-Kafirun: 1], then go to sleep upon completing it, for it is a declaration of freedom from shirk."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you puts his feet into his leather socks while they are in a state of purity, he may wipe over them; for the traveller the period is three days, and for the resident one day (and night)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you catches one prostration (that is, one rak'ah) of the Asr prayer before the sun sets, he should complete his prayer; and if he catches one prostration of the Fajr prayer before the sun rises, he should complete his prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a slave fulfils the right of Allah and the right of his masters, he will have a double reward."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Ibn Umm Maktum gives the adhan, eat and drink; and when Bilal gives the adhan, do not eat or drink."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the muezzin has given the adhan, no one should leave (the mosque) until he has prayed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you give the adhan for Maghrib, give it quickly, right with (the setting of) the sun."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you wishes to go to relieve himself and the prayer has been started, he should first go to relieve himself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you wishes to marry off his daughter, he should seek her permission."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you wishes to fulfil his need with his wife, let him come to her, even if she is at the oven (baking bread)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for a ruler, He appoints for him a truthful minister: if the ruler forgets, he reminds him, and if he remembers, he helps him. And when Allah intends otherwise for him, He appoints for him an evil minister: if he forgets, he does not remind him, and if he remembers, he does not help him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for the people of a household, He brings gentleness and kindness into them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He puts him to work." (The Companions) asked: "What does He put him to work at?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He opens for him the door to a righteous deed before his death, until the people around him become pleased with him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When (Allah Almighty) intends good for a servant, He puts him to work." (The Companions) asked: "How does He put him to work?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He grants him the ability to do a righteous deed before death, and then takes his soul in that (state of doing good)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He purifies him before he dies." The Companions said: "What is meant by the purification of the servant?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is a righteous deed which Allah inspires in him (grants him the ability to do), until He takes his soul in that very state."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He makes him sweet like honey." (The Companions) asked: "What does his being made sweet like honey mean?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He opens for him the door to a righteous deed before his death, then takes his soul in that state."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends good for His servant, He hastens his punishment for him in this world; and when He intends evil for His servant, He withholds the punishment of his sin from him until He repays him for it in full on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends punishment for a people, the punishment engulfs everyone who is among them; then (on the Day of Resurrection) they will be raised according to their own deeds."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends to create something, nothing can prevent Him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty intends to take the soul of a servant in a (particular) land, He creates some need for him there."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you want to spit, do not spit to your right, but spit to your left if that space is empty; and if that space is not empty, then spit under your foot."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you release your trained hunting dogs and mention the name of Allah (upon releasing them), then eat what they catch and hold for you, even if they kill it, except if the dog eats some of it, for I fear that it caught it only for itself. And if other dogs join your dogs, then do not eat, for you do not know which dog killed it. And if you shoot an arrow at game and find it after a day or two with no mark on it except that of your arrow, then eat it; and if it falls into water, then do not eat it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you release your trained dog and it kills (the game), then eat it; and if it eats some of it, then do not eat, for it has then caught it for itself. And if you find another dog with it, then do not eat, for you pronounced (the name of Allah) over your own dog and not over any other dog."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you release your trained hunting dog and remember Allah and mention His name, then eat what your trained dog catches and holds for you, even if it kills it. And if you release your dog that is not trained and you find (the game) alive and slaughter it, then eat it. And eat what your arrow brings you, even if it kills it, provided that you have mentioned the name of Allah (when shooting)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you release your hunting dog, mention the name of Allah. If it catches and holds (the game) for you and you find it alive, then slaughter it; and if you find that it has killed it and not eaten any of it, then eat it. And if you find another dog with your dog and it has killed the game, then do not eat, for you do not know which of them killed it. And when you shoot your arrow, mention the name of Allah; then if (the game) is lost to you for a day and you find no mark on it except that of your arrow, eat it if you wish. And if you find it drowned in water, then do not eat, for you do not know whether the water killed it or your arrow."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you commit an evil deed, then follow it with a good deed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you asks permission three times and is not given permission, let him go back."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the wife of one of you asks his permission to go to the mosque, let him not prevent her."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When permission is sought from a man while he is praying, his granting of permission is to say Subhan Allah, and when permission is sought from a woman while she is praying, her granting of permission is to clap."
