«إذا أحب الله عبدا نادى جبريل: إني قد أحببت فلانا فأحبه فينادي في السماء ثم تنزل له المحبة في الأرض فذلك قوله تعالى: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ وُدّاً} » وإذا أبغض الله عبدا نادى جبريل إني أبغضت فلانا فينادي في السماء ثم تنزل له البغضاء في الأرض"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He calls Jibril (peace be upon him) and says: 'I have loved so-and-so, so you love him too.' So he calls out in the heaven, and then love for him is sent down on the earth. This is the meaning of the saying of Allah Almighty: 'Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection (in hearts).' [Surah Maryam: 96] And when Allah Almighty hates a servant, He calls Jibril and says: 'I hate so-and-so.' So he calls out in the heaven, and then hatred and aversion for him are sent down on the earth."
