Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The friends of Allah Almighty are those who, when they are seen, Allah Almighty is remembered."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Do you not know what befell a man of the Children of Israel? They were people who, when drops of urine fell on them, would cut that part off with shears. Then a companion of theirs forbade them from doing this, and he was punished in his grave."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Do you not know what covenant I have made with my Lord? I said: O Allah, I am only a human being, so whichever Muslim I curse or revile, make that (word) a means of purification and reward for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first of the (major) signs (of the Hour) is the rising of the sun from its west."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first of the people to perish will be Quraysh, and the first of Quraysh to perish will be the people of my household."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first army of my Ummah that will set sail on the sea for jihad has made Paradise obligatory for itself, and the first army of my Ummah that will campaign against the city of Caesar (Constantinople) is forgiven."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first two disputants to present their case on the Day of Resurrection will be two neighbours."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first group to enter Paradise will be radiant like the moon on the night of the full moon, and the second group will shine like the most beautiful glittering star in the sky. Each man among them will have two wives, and each wife will be wearing seventy garments, through which the marrow of her shin will be visible."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first group to enter Paradise will be in the form of the moon on the night of the full moon, and those who come after them will be like the brightest glittering star in the sky. Their hearts will be like the heart of one man; there will be no disagreement, hatred or envy among them. Each one of them will have two wives, whose beauty will be such that the marrow of their shins will be visible through the flesh. They will glorify Allah Almighty morning and evening. They will not fall ill, nor blow their noses, nor spit. Their vessels will be of gold and silver, their combs will be of gold, and the fuel of their censers will be (fragrant) aloeswood."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The faces of the first group to enter Paradise will be like the moon on the night of the full moon. They will not spit there, nor blow their noses, nor relieve themselves. Their vessels there will be of gold, their combs of gold and silver, the fragrance of their censers will be aloeswood, and their sweat will be like musk. Each one of them will have two wives, whose beauty will be such that the marrow of their shins will be visible through the flesh. There will be no disagreement or hatred among them; their hearts will all be like one heart, and they will glorify Allah Almighty morning and evening."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The very first thing the people of Paradise will eat will be the extra (choice) lobe of the fish's liver."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing that will gather the people (to the place of gathering) will be a fire that will drive them from the east to the west."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing to be taken away from this Ummah will be humility (in prayer), until you will not see a single humble person in it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing of your religion that you will lose will be trustworthiness."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first of people's deeds for which they will be held to account on the Day of Resurrection is the prayer. Our Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, will say to His angels, though He knows best: Look at My servant's prayer; did he complete it or did he fall short in it? If it is complete, it will be recorded for him as complete; and if he fell short in it in anything, Allah Almighty will say: Look, does My servant have any voluntary prayer? If he has any voluntary prayer, He will say: Complete My servant's obligatory prayer (from his voluntary prayers). Then the rest of the deeds will be taken to account in the same way."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing (of his deeds) for which a servant will be held to account is the prayer, and the first thing to be judged between people (in their rights) will be cases of blood (i.e. unjust killing)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing for which a servant will be held to account on the Day of Resurrection is the prayer. If it turns out sound, all the rest of his deeds will be sound, and if it turns out corrupt, all the rest of his deeds will be corrupt."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing for which a servant will be held to account on the Day of Resurrection is his prayer. If he performed it completely, it will be recorded for him as complete; and if he did not perform it completely, Allah Almighty will say to His angels: Look, do you find any voluntary deed among My servant's deeds, so that you may complete his obligatory duty with it? Then the matter of zakah will be likewise, and then the rest of the deeds will be taken to account according to the same principle."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing to be taken away from the people will be trustworthiness, and the last thing of their religion to remain will be the prayer; and many a person who prays will have no share or portion (of good) with Allah Almighty."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing to be taken away from the people (of their worship) will be humility."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first thing to be judged between people on the Day of Resurrection will be cases of blood (unjust killing)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"As soon as the first drop of the martyr's blood falls, all his sins are forgiven, except debt."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first mosque built on the face of the earth was al-Masjid al-Haram, then al-Masjid al-Aqsa was built, and between the two (in their building) was a gap of forty years. Then after that, wherever the time of prayer comes upon you, pray there, for the virtue lies in that."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first person who changed the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Amr bin Luhayy bin Qam'ah bin Khindif, Abu Khuza'ah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first person from whose tongue clear and eloquent Arabic flowed was Isma'il (peace be upon him), and at that time he was fourteen years old."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first to change my Sunnah will be a man from Banu Umayyah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam (peace be upon him). His offspring will be presented before him, and it will be said: This is your father Adam. He will say: Here I am at Your service, ready to obey You. Allah Almighty will say: Separate from your offspring the contingent of the people of Hell. He will say: O my Lord, how many shall I take out? Allah Almighty will say: Take out ninety-nine out of every hundred. The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, when ninety-nine out of every hundred of us are taken out, what will remain of us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, the example of my Ummah among all the nations is like a single white hair on the body of a black bull."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first of all creation to be clothed (at the place of gathering) will be Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first Prophet to be sent (as a Messenger) was Nuh (peace be upon him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The children of the idolaters (who die before maturity) will be servants of the people of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The friends of Allah Almighty are those who, when they are seen, Allah Almighty is remembered."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Has Allah Almighty not made for you things which you can give in charity? Indeed, every time you say 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) is charity, every time you say 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) is charity, every time you say 'Al-hamdu lillah' (All praise is for Allah) is charity, every time you say 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah) is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and even one of you having relations with his wife is charity. The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, when one of us fulfils his desire, does he get a reward for that too? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell me, if he were to use it in what is unlawful, would there not be a sin upon him? Likewise, when he uses it in a lawful way, there is a reward for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you about the two most wretched men among people? One is the ruddy man of Thamud who hamstrung the she-camel, and the other is the man who, O Ali, will strike you on this (head) until this (beard) is soaked with it (blood)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you of a deed which, if you adopt it, you will catch up with those who have gone ahead of you, no one who comes after you will be able to reach you, and you will become the best of those among whom you live, except for one who does exactly the same deed? That deed is that after every prayer you say 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, 'Al-hamdu lillah' (All praise is for Allah) thirty-three times and 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) thirty-three times."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you something about the Dajjal that no Prophet before me told his people? He will certainly be one-eyed, and a likeness (image) of Paradise and Hell will be brought with him; what he calls Paradise will in reality be the Fire. And I warn you of him just as Nuh (peace be upon him) warned his people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not inform you of the very best surah of the Qur'an? It is: All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds." [Surah al-Fatihah: 2]

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you about the best words by which those who seek refuge seek refuge? They are: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak [Surah al-Falaq: 1] and: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind [Surah an-Nas: 1]."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you about the people of Hell? Every harsh-tempered, gluttonous, arrogant person who amasses wealth and withholds it from being spent. Shall I not tell you about the people of Paradise? Every poor and humble person who, if he swears by Allah (about something), Allah Almighty will certainly fulfil it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you of something whose rank is even higher than (voluntary) fasting, prayer and charity? It is setting right relations between people (making peace), for the corruption of mutual relations is the thing that shaves off (the religion)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not tell you about the borrowed billy goat? He is the one who performs halalah; so Allah Almighty has cursed both the one who performs halalah and the one for whom halalah is performed."
