Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The lower garment (izar, or trousers) of the believer should reach to the middle of his shins."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The lower garment of the believer should reach to the muscle (fleshy part) of his shin, and then to the ankles. Whatever hangs below that will be in the Fire."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The lower garment of the believer should reach to the middle of the shin, and there is no harm in keeping it anywhere between that and the ankles; but whatever hangs below the ankles will be in the Fire. Whoever drags his lower garment on the ground out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy (on the Day of Resurrection)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Be indifferent to the world and Allah will love you; and be indifferent to what people possess and people will love you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Be indifferent to the world and Allah will love you. As for people, leave their things to them (be indifferent to what they have), and they will love you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Usamah is the dearest of people to me."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Performing ablution (wudu) thoroughly is half of faith; Alhamdulillah (all praise is for Allah) fills the Scale; tasbih and takbir (Subhan Allah and Allahu Akbar) fill the space between the heavens and the earth; prayer is light; zakah is a proof (of faith); patience is illumination; and the Qur'an is a proof either for you or against you. Every person sets out in the morning and sells his soul, then he either frees it (by doing good) or destroys it (by sinning)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Performing ablution thoroughly despite hardship, taking many steps to the mosques, and waiting for one prayer after another prayer: these deeds wash away sins completely."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Perform ablution thoroughly, pass (water) between the fingers, and be thorough in drawing water into the nose, unless you are fasting."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Perform ablution thoroughly."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"(O women!) Move back, for it is not proper for you to walk in the middle of the road; keep to the edges of the road."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek the permission of women regarding (the matters of) their marriage."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Establish that the wombs of these captive women (slave women) are clear by means of one menstrual cycle (that is, wait until one menstrual period occurs so that it is certain there is no pregnancy)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave, for the punishment of the grave is true."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Have modesty, for Allah Almighty is not shy of stating the truth: do not approach women in their back passage (anus)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Have modesty, for Allah Almighty is not shy of the truth: it is not lawful to approach women in the place of their excrement (the anus)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Be modest before Allah Almighty with the modesty that is His due. Whoever wishes to fulfil the due of modesty before Allah, let him guard the head and what it contains (that is, the eyes, ears, tongue and so on), guard the belly and what it holds, and remember death and (the body's) decay (in the grave). Whoever intends the Hereafter abandons the adornment of the life of this world. So whoever does these things has truly fulfilled the due of modesty before Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Keep revising the Qur'an repeatedly, for it escapes from the breasts of men so swiftly that even animals tied with ropes do not run away as fast."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Have ruqyah performed for this girl, for she has been afflicted by the evil eye."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah from the evil eye, for the evil eye is true."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah Almighty from poverty (want), from destitution, and from wronging someone or being wronged."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah from the evil of a bad neighbour where you permanently reside, for a neighbour on a journey can part whenever he wishes."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave, seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of Hell, seek refuge with Allah from the trial of the False Messiah (al-Masih al-Dajjal), and seek refuge with Allah from the trials of life and death."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave, for the dead are punished in their graves with a punishment that the animals hear."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek help in accomplishing your needs (and aims) through secrecy, for everyone who has a blessing is envied."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek forgiveness from your Lord; indeed I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him a hundred times every day."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek forgiveness for your (Muslim) brother and ask for steadfastness for him, for he is now being questioned (in the grave by Munkar and Nakir)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Pray for forgiveness for Ma'iz bin Malik. He has certainly made such a (sincere) repentance that, if it were divided among the whole Ummah, it would suffice them all."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Be independent of people, even if it is in the matter of the shavings of a tooth-stick (miswak) (or a used miswak)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek a ruling (guidance) from your own heart, even if those who give rulings have given you a ruling."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Repeat your prayer, for there is no prayer for the one who prays alone behind the row."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Learn the Qur'an from four people: from Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, Ubayy bin Ka'b and Mu'adh bin Jabal."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remain steadfast (in the religion) and make your character good towards people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remain steadfast (in the religion), and you will never be able to count (its full reward). Know that the best of all your deeds is the prayer, and none maintains ablution (wudu) except a believer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remain steadfast (in the religion), and how excellent it will be if you remain steadfast. The best of your deeds is the prayer, and none will maintain ablution (wudu) except a believer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Use sandals often (that is, keep them on when walking), for as long as a man is wearing sandals it is as though he is riding (he suffers less fatigue and hardship)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Benefit from this House (the Ka'bah) (that is, perform its tawaf and visit it frequently), for it has been demolished twice and will be raised up (taken away) the third time."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Draw water into the nose and blow it out thoroughly, twice or three times."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust and the final outcome of your deeds."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I entrust you to Allah, with whom the things entrusted are never lost."
