Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection are the makers of images (of living beings). It will be said to them: Bring to life what you created."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one among people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection is a man who killed a prophet or was killed by a prophet, or a man who misleads people without knowledge, or an image-maker who makes statues (of living beings)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one among people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection is a tyrannical ruler."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most modest of my Ummah is Uthman bin Affan."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Those of my Ummah who love me most will be people who come after me; each one of them will wish that he could give up his family and wealth, everything, and see me just once."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The finest poetic saying the Arabs have uttered is this line of Labid: Behold! Everything besides Allah is vain (bound to perish)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Say the phrases of the Adhan in even number (twice each) and the phrases of the Iqamah in odd number (once each)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Intercede (in permissible matters), and you will be rewarded."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Intercede so that you may be rewarded, and Allah Almighty carries out on the tongue of His Prophet whatever decision He wills."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most grateful of people to Allah is the one who is most grateful to people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I bear witness that there is no true god except Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah with these two, believing in them without any doubt, except that he will certainly enter Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Announce (and publicise) marriage."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Announce marriage and make it publicly known."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The fingers of the hands and the toes of the feet are equal (in blood money or retaliation)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The truest saying ever spoken by a poet is this line of Labid: Behold! Everything besides Allah is vain (perishing)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Turn your gaze away (that is, when your eyes suddenly fall upon a non-mahram, look away)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Prepare food for the family of Ja'far, for such a grief has befallen them that it has kept them occupied."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Do as you wish (that is, regarding coitus interruptus), but whatever Allah Almighty has decreed will come to be; and besides, a child does not come from every drop of water (sperm)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Allah Almighty led those before us astray from Friday, so the Jews had Saturday and the Christians had Sunday. Then Allah Almighty brought us and guided us to Friday, and thus He made the order Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Likewise, on the Day of Resurrection they will follow behind us. We are the last of the people of this world, but on the Day of Resurrection we will be the first, those whose judgement will be passed before all of creation."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Guarantee me six things on your part, and I guarantee you Paradise: speak the truth when you speak, fulfil it when you make a promise, render it back when something is entrusted to you, guard your private parts, lower your gazes, and restrain your hands (from oppression and wrongdoing)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Speak good and pure words, spread the greeting of peace (salam), maintain ties of kinship, and pray (Tahajjud) at night while people are asleep; then you will enter Paradise in peace."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The sky is creaking (that is, groaning under its load), and it has every right to creak. By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! There is not a span's worth of space in the sky except that there is the forehead of an angel in prostration, glorifying Allah with His praise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Feed (people) and speak pure words."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Feed (the poor and the needy) and spread the greeting of peace (salam), and you will be made heirs of the Gardens of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The (young, deceased) children of the believers are on a mountain in Paradise, where Ibrahim and Sarah (peace be upon them both) are taking care of them until they hand them over to their parents on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The (young, deceased) children of the polytheists will be servants of the people of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you go to sleep, put out the lamps, shut the doors, tie up the mouths of the waterskins, and cover food and drink, even if only by placing a stick across it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek the acceptance of supplication at the time when armies clash (in jihad), when the prayer is established, and when rain falls."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten nights (of Ramadan); then if you become weak (due to illness or sleep), do not by any means slacken in the remaining seven nights."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten nights: when nine nights remain, when seven nights remain, when five nights remain, and when three nights remain."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I looked into Paradise and saw that most of its inhabitants were the poor, and I looked into Hell and saw that most of its inhabitants were women."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the Day of Resurrection, those with the longest necks among people will be the mu'adhdhins (callers to prayer)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The best of perfumes is musk."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The purest earning is a man's working with his own hand, and every trade that is free of deceit and sin."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Obey me as long as I am among you, and it is binding upon you to hold fast to the Book of Allah: regard as lawful what it makes lawful and regard as unlawful what it makes unlawful."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Trials like pieces of the dark night have overshadowed you. The safest of people from them will be a man on a mountain peak who lives on the milk of his goats, or a man at the frontiers holding the reins of his horse, who earns his provision from the shade of his sword (that is, he is engaged in jihad)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I think you have heard that Abu Ubaydah has come from Bahrain with some wealth. So rejoice and hope for what will please you. By Allah! It is not poverty that I fear for you; rather, I fear for you that the world will be spread open for you just as it was spread open for those before you, and then you will compete with one another to acquire it just as they did, and it (greed for the world) will destroy you just as it destroyed them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then (be certain that) He surely sees you. Count yourself among the dead, and beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for it is certainly answered."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Worship Allah as though you see Him, count yourself among the dead, and beware of the supplications of the oppressed, for they are certainly answered. The Fajr and Isha prayers are binding upon you, so attend them both; for if you knew how much reward lies in them, you would certainly come to them, even if you had to crawl on your knees."
