Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give the salam in the prayer to his right and to his left, until we could see the whiteness of his cheeks.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, about whom there is criticism.

A Bedouin narrated from his father that he prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam to the right and to the left (on both sides).

Bistam narrated from a Bedouin who stayed with them as a guest that this Bedouin had prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam twice (that is, on both sides).
Ahmad recorded it. This narrator named Bistam is Bistam bin al-Nadr; Ustadh Jamal al-Din al-Mizzi mentioned him thus in the biography of his student Amr bin Farrukh. Al-Sharif al-Husayni thought that he was perhaps Bistam bin Muslim, so he did not mention him; and Allah knows best. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy). Ibn Hibban mentioned Bistam bin al-Nadr in the book al-Thiqat, and he mentioned this narration of his from the Bedouin just as it is mentioned here.

Wasi' bin Habban narrates that he was standing in the mosque, praying. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar was in front of him, leaning his back against the qiblah wall of the mosque. When Wasi' finished the prayer, he got up from his left side, went to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar and sat down with him. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar asked him: "Why did you not get up from your right side?" He replied: "Because I had seen you, so I got up and came to you." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar said: "You have done well. Some people say: 'When you pray and then get up, get up from your right side.'" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar said: "When you pray and are about to get up, then if you wish, get up from the right side, and if you wish from the left side, get up from that side."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to begin the recitation (aloud) with 'Al-hamdu lillahi rabbil-'alamin' (All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds), and they used to give the salam once. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of it is mentioned in the Sahih.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, mentioning the single salam; the narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir narrates: When giving the salam to the right and to the left, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: 'Al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah, al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah' (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah; peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, who narrated it from the people of Kufah; he is da'if (weak) in what he narrates from people other than those of his own city. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) says: He is salih (acceptable), but there is room for consideration regarding him.

Abbas bin Sahl bin Sa'd narrates that he was present in a gathering in which his father was present, as were Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Usayd and Sayyiduna Abu Humayd. They discussed the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they also mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give the salam to the right and to the left. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Humayd is mentioned in the Sahih.

Then I prayed behind Sayyiduna Abu Bakr; when he gave the salam, he got up at once, as though he were sitting on a burning coal.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Abdullah bin Farrukh. Ibrahim al-Juzajani says: His narrations are munkar (rejected). Ibn Abi Maryam says: To me he is the most pleasing man on the face of the earth. Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and says: He sometimes narrates contrary to (other narrators). The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the imam gives the salam and a man has some need, he should not wait for the imam to turn his face towards the people after giving the salam, because the prayer ends with giving the salam. It was the practice of Sayyiduna Abdullah that when he gave the salam, he would get up at once, or change his place, or turn his face towards the people.

(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the Sahih there is a marfu' hadith (attributed to the Prophet) narrated from him, other than this one.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. I have not found anyone who has given the biography of the narrator named Ghalib.
