وَعَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ حَتَّى نَرَى بَيَاضَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ وَبَيَاضَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give the salam to his right and to his left, until we could see the whiteness of his right cheek and the whiteness of his left cheek.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
