بَابُ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ .

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ بَيْتِهِ وَعَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَعَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " .
قَالَ ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ : وَكَانَ أَبِي يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قَالَ ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ : وَكَانَ أَبِي يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .

It is reported about one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to recite: "O Allah, send blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family (al-bayt) of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) (perhaps the word here should be ahl al-bayt, but it appears this way in the printed edition of the book too), and upon his wives and his offspring, just as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and the Possessor of glory. And bestow blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), upon his household, upon his wives and his offspring, just as You bestowed blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and the Possessor of glory." Ibn Tawus says: My father used to recite something similar.

وَعَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ : قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " قُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ وَبَرَكَاتِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا جَعَلْتَهَا عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَفِيهِ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْأَعْمَى وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have come to know how to send salam upon you, so how should we send blessings (durud) upon you?" The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: 'O Allah, place Your blessings, Your mercy and Your bounties upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), just as You placed them upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and the Possessor of glory.'"

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُمْ سَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " قُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ وَبَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ وَالسَّلَامُ كَمَا قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: People asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "How should we send blessings (durud) upon you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: 'O Allah, send blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and bestow blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), just as You sent blessings and bestowed blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and the Possessor of glory.'" (Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "The way of the salam is what you already know."

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَكْثِرُوا الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيَّ فَإِنَّهَا زَكَاةٌ لَكُمْ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Send blessings upon me abundantly, for it will be a means of purification for you."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْنَا مَعَهُمُ ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَيْنَا مَعَهُمْ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ وَصَلَوَاتُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْهِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ " .
قُلْتُ : فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْهُ التَّشَهُّدُ خَلَا الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَفِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَحَادِيثُ كَثِيرَةٌ تَأْتِي فِي الْأَدْعِيَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى .
قُلْتُ : فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْهُ التَّشَهُّدُ خَلَا الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَفِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَحَادِيثُ كَثِيرَةٌ تَأْتِي فِي الْأَدْعِيَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me (to recite these words in the tashahhud): "All forms of physical, verbal and financial worship are exclusively for Allah Almighty. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah Almighty and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon all the righteous servants of Allah Almighty. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah Almighty, and I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. O Allah, send blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon his household, just as You sent blessings upon Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, the Possessor of glory. O Allah, send blessings upon us too along with them. O Allah, bestow blessings upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon his household, just as You bestowed blessings upon Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, the Possessor of glory. O Allah, bestow blessings upon us too along with them. May the blessings of Allah Almighty and the blessings of the believers be upon Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the unlettered Prophet. Peace be upon him, and may the mercy of Allah Almighty and His blessings descend upon him." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the Sahih, only the tashahhud from this narration is mentioned; sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not mentioned.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Abd al-Wahhab bin Mujahid, who is da'if (weak). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Many hadiths are reported about sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which will come later in the chapter on supplications, if Allah wills.
