Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir narrates: When giving the salam to the right and to the left, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: 'Al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah, al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah' (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah; peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, who narrated it from the people of Kufah; he is da'if (weak) in what he narrates from people other than those of his own city. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
