Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam towards us in the prayer, we would say: 'Wa 'alaykum al-salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh' (And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Ibrahim bin al-Mukhtar, whom Imam Abu Dawud and Abu Hatim declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in says: He is not of that standard. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
