It is narrated about Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he sat at the second door of the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He sent for a shoulder of meat and ate it, then stood up and prayed, and he did not perform ablution again. Then he said: I have sat where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat, I have eaten what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, and I have done what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.

Had I done so, the people after me would have done the same.

Then she presented more and placed it before him (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it. Then the mu'adhdhin came and said: Please perform ablution, please perform ablution! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ablution is required of us because of what comes out (from inside the body); it is not required because of what goes in (to the body from outside).

Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) presented the cooked shoulder of a goat to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to pray, and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) took hold of his garment and said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not perform ablution? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: For what reason, my daughter? She said: You have eaten something cooked on fire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The purest of your food is that (food) which has been cooked on fire.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is not your most wholesome food that which has been cooked on fire?
Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this report, but they reported the wording: "the purest food". The narrator al-Hasan bin Abi al-Hasan was born after the death of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and
this report is munqati' (disconnected).

She said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) in his illness, and we presented him with the foreleg of a goat, which he ate. When the time of prayer came, he rinsed his mouth and prayed without performing ablution again.

In one narration the words are: A bowl was brought to us from the house of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), containing bread and meat; after this the narrator mentioned the report as before.
