It is narrated about Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he sat at the second door of the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He sent for a shoulder of meat and ate it, then stood up and prayed, and he did not perform ablution again. Then he said: I have sat where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat, I have eaten what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, and I have done what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.
Imam Ahmad, Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Bazzar recorded this report.
