Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1330

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was about to skin a goat. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: O Mu'adh, give it to me! The narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are: Show me! Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) thrust his hand twice between the flesh and the skin and said: O Mu'adh, this is how it is done. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the prayer.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this report in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, who is da'if (weak).
