Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1331

Al-Hasan bin Abi al-Hasan narrates: Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my house, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ate meat on the bone. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to call him, so he rose to pray. I took hold of his garment and said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not perform ablution? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My daughter, for what reason should I perform ablution? I said: Because of eating something cooked on fire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is not your most wholesome food that which has been cooked on fire?
Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this report, but they reported the wording: "the purest food". The narrator al-Hasan bin Abi al-Hasan was born after the death of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and
this report is munqati' (disconnected).
