Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty detests every person who is ill-tempered, arrogant, and clamorous in the marketplaces; a corpse by night (sleeping heedlessly like the dead), a donkey by day (absorbed like a donkey only in earning worldly gain); well-versed in the affairs of this world and ignorant of the affairs of the Hereafter."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty detests every person who is well-versed in the affairs of this world but utterly ignorant of the affairs of the Hereafter."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves that when any of you does a piece of work, he does it with perfection (and excellence)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves gentleness in every matter."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves the servant who is God-fearing, self-sufficient (that is, rich of heart) and inconspicuous (far from showing off)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves sneezing and dislikes yawning."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves sneezing and dislikes yawning. So when any of you sneezes and says 'Alhamdulillah' (All praise is for Allah), it is a right upon every Muslim who hears him to say to him in reply 'Yarhamuk Allah' (May Allah have mercy on you). As for yawning, it is from Satan, so when any of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can, for when a person says 'haa' (while yawning), Satan laughs at him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves that His concessions (allowances) be acted upon, just as He loves that His firm commands (obligations) be acted upon."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves that His concessions be acted upon, just as He dislikes that He be disobeyed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves to see the effect of His blessing upon His servant."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves the person who is lenient when selling, lenient when buying, and lenient when demanding repayment of a debt."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves lofty manners and dislikes base manners."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves lofty and noble matters and dislikes their base aspects."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty loves that when a worker does a job, he does it really well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty introduces by His command whatever new ruling He wills, and indeed Allah Almighty has introduced this new ruling: that you should not speak during the prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will bring some people out of Hell in such a state that nothing of them will remain except their faces, and then He will admit them into Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will bring the believer close to Himself, place His covering over him and screen him from the people, and make him confess his sins. He will say: Do you remember such-and-such a sin? Do you remember such-and-such a sin? He will say: Yes, O my Lord! Until, when He has made him confess all his sins and he thinks within himself that he is now ruined, Allah Almighty will say: I concealed these sins of yours in the world, and today I forgive them for you. Then the record of his good deeds will be given to him in his right hand. As for the disbeliever and the hypocrite, the witnesses will call out: These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Behold! The curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is pleased with three things for you and dislikes three things for you. He is pleased for you: that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him; that you all hold firmly together to the rope of Allah and do not become divided; and that you sincerely wish well for the one whom Allah has put in charge of your affairs. And He dislikes for you: idle talk ('it was said' and 'he said'), asking too many questions, and wasting wealth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty raises some people through this Book and lowers others through it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty increases the punishment of the disbeliever because of some of his family's weeping over him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty looks upon His servants with mercy on the fifteenth night of Sha'ban, and He forgives the believers, gives respite to the disbelievers, and leaves the people of rancour with their rancour until they abandon it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will punish the image-makers because of the images they made."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will, on the Day of Resurrection, punish those who torment people in this world."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has protective jealousy (ghayrah), and the believer too has protective jealousy; and Allah's jealousy is that the believer should commit what Allah Almighty has forbidden him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty accepts charity and takes it in His right hand, then He nurtures and grows it for you just as one of you raises his foal, until even a single morsel becomes (grows) as large as the mountain of Uhud."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty accepts the repentance of a servant as long as the throes of death have not come upon him (that is, as long as the soul has not reached the throat)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'When I take back in this world My servant's two beloved things (that is, his eyes) (and he is patient over it), then there is no reward for him with Me other than Paradise.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'I am near to the opinion My servant holds of Me; so if he holds a good opinion, there is good for him, and if he holds a bad opinion, there is bad for him.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'I am with My servant as long as he remembers Me and his lips move with My remembrance.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'Fasting is exclusively for Me, and I Myself will reward it.' The fasting person has two joys: when he breaks his fast he rejoices, and when he meets Allah Almighty he will rejoice at the reward his Lord grants him. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! The smell of the fasting person's mouth is purer and more pleasing to Allah than the fragrance of musk."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'Might is My lower garment and grandeur (majesty) is My cloak; so whoever contends with Me regarding either of them (that is, claims equality with Me in them), I will punish him.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'Indeed, a servant whose body I have kept healthy and whose livelihood I have made ample, then five years pass over him and he does not come to Me (to My House for Hajj or Umrah), is surely deprived.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'Indeed, My believing servant is, in My sight, at the station of every good; I am drawing out his soul from between his sides while he is praising Me.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will say to the people of Paradise: 'O people of Paradise!' They will say: 'Our Lord, here we are at Your service; all felicity is in Your hands and all good is with You alone.' Allah Almighty will say: 'Are you pleased?' They will say: 'Why should we not be pleased, when You have given us what You have not given to anyone else of Your creation?' Allah will say: 'Shall I not give you something even better than that?' They will say: 'O our Lord, what could be better than that?' Allah Almighty will say: 'I make My good pleasure binding upon you forever, so after this I will never be displeased with you.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will say to the person in Hell with the lightest punishment: 'If you had everything on the earth, would you give it as a ransom to be released (from this punishment)?' He will say: 'Yes.' Allah Almighty will say: 'When you were in the loins of Adam, I asked of you something far easier than this: that you associate nothing with Me; but you refused everything except associating partners with Me.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'O son of Adam, take care to pray four rak'ahs for Me in the early part of the day, and through their blessing I will suffice you in all your affairs until the end of the day.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty says: 'O son of Adam, devote yourself to My worship (that is, with undivided attention), and I will fill your chest with contentment (freedom from want) and remove your poverty; and if you do not do so, I will fill your hands with work and preoccupations, and I will not remove your poverty either.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection: 'Where are those who loved one another for the sake of My majesty and glory? Today I will shade them in My shade, on the day when there is no shade but My shade.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection: 'O son of Adam, I was sick and you did not visit Me.' The servant will say: 'O my Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of all the worlds?' Allah will say: 'Did you not know that My servant so-and-so fell sick, yet you did not visit him? Do you not know that had you gone to visit him, you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food, but you did not feed Me.' The servant will say: 'O my Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?' Allah will say: 'Did you not know that My servant so-and-so asked you for food, but you did not feed him? Do you not know that had you fed him, you would have found its reward with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you for water, but you did not give Me to drink.' The servant will say: 'O my Lord, how could I give You to drink when You are the Lord of all the worlds?' Allah will say: 'My servant so-and-so asked you for water, but you did not give him to drink. Know that had you given him water, you would have found its reward with Me.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty gives respite until, when half or two-thirds of the night has passed, He says: 'Let My servants ask of Me alone and of no one else. Whoever supplicates to Me, I will answer him; whoever asks of Me, I will give him; whoever seeks My forgiveness, I will forgive him.' And this continues until dawn breaks."
