Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which wrongdoing is the greatest wrongdoing?" He said: "A cubit of land that a Muslim man seizes from the right of his brother; on the Day of Resurrection a (heavy) collar of it, down to the depths of the earth, will be put around his neck, and no one knows its depth except Allah Almighty, who created it."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it; Ahmad's chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest betrayal in the sight of Allah Almighty is a cubit of land: you will find two men who are neighbours in some land or in a house, and one of them seizes a cubit from his companion's share. When he seizes it, he will be made to wear a collar of it from seven earths until the Day of Resurrection."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Ahmad recorded it with two chains, and the narrators of one of the two are the narrators of the Sahih.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.

Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Any man who wrongfully seizes a hand-span of land, Allah Almighty will require him to dig it until he reaches the bottom of the seventh earth, and then a collar of that land will be put around his neck until the Day of Resurrection, until judgment is passed between the people."
Ahmad, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir, recorded something similar with several chains, and the narrators of some of them are the narrators of the Sahih. He said in it: "Then he will be made to wear it as a collar on the Day of Resurrection."

Al-Tabarani also recorded a narration from Sayyiduna Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever wrongfully takes a hand-span of land, or more than that, will be required to dig it until he reaches water, and then to carry that soil to the plain of gathering." The chain of this narration contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, who is da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy.

Abu Ya'la, al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it; its chain contains Hamzah bin Abi Muhammad, whom Abu Hatim and Abu Zur'ah declared da'if (weak), while al-Tirmidhi declared his hadith hasan (good).
