Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6886

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a hand-span of (land wrongfully) in Makkah, it is as though he took it from beneath the foot of the Most Merciful; and whoever takes anything from the rest of the earth without right, when he comes on the Day of Resurrection, a collar of seven earths will have been put around his neck."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Muhammad bin al-Fadl bin Atiyyah, who is matruk (abandoned) and a liar.
