Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever buys palm trees after they have been pollinated, their fruit belongs to the one who sold them, unless the buyer stipulates (otherwise); and whoever buys a slave, the slave's property belongs to the one who sold him, unless the buyer stipulates (otherwise)."

Muslim bin al-Hajjaj (may Allah have mercy on him), mentioning the disagreement between Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) and Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) in the story of the slave, said: The correct view is that of Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him), even though Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) had a stronger memory than him.

Abu Isa (al-Tirmidhi) said: I asked Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) about it, and he said: Nafi' differs from Salim in some hadiths, and this hadith is one of them. It is as if he considered both hadiths sahih, and that both are possible.
Abu Ali said: I asked Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Nasa'i about the hadith of Salim and Nafi' from Ibn Umar regarding the story of the slave and the palm trees, and he said: The correct view is that of Nafi', even though Salim had a stronger memory than him.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever frees a slave, the slave's property is his (the slave's), unless the master stipulates that the property will be his."
In the narration of Ibn Wahb from Ibn Lahi'ah and al-Layth bin Sa'd, the wording is: "Whoever frees a slave who has property, the slave's property is his, unless the master stipulates (otherwise)."
This contradicts the narration of the group from Nafi'; the huffaz narrated it from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, from Umar, as preceded.

Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a bowl of bread and meat. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Salman! What is this?" I said: It is charity. He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat, and said to his Companions: "You eat." Then I came with a bowl full of bread and meat, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Salman! What is this?" I said: It is a gift. He (peace and blessings be upon him) ate and said: "We eat gifts, but we do not eat charity." The narrator said: I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What do you say about the Christians? He said: "O Salman! There is no good in the Christians, nor in the one who loves them" (he (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times), "except one who is on the like of your companion's religion." The narrator said: I knew then that my companion was on the religion of Isa (Jesus) (peace be upon him), meaning the monk with whom Salman had been.
The Shaykh said: In the hadith of Buraydah there is an addition showing that Salman was a slave when he gave the gift. [Da'if]
