أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ، يَقُولُ: لَوْلَا أَمْرَانِ لَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ عَبْدًا مَمْلُوكًا، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْمَمْلُوكَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَصْنَعَ شَيْئًا فِي مَالِهِ، وَذَلِكَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: " مَا خَلَقَ اللهُ عَبْدًا يُؤَدِّي حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ، وَحَقَّ سَيِّدِهِ إِلَّا وَفَّاهُ اللهُ أَجْرَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ ".
Al-Maqburi heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Were it not for two matters, I would love to be a slave owned by another, because a slave has no authority to dispose of his own property; and I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah has not created a slave who fulfils the right of Allah upon him and the right of his master except that Allah gives him his reward twice."
