Hadith Beginning with the Letter Lam (ل)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the Jews; they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the Jews. Allah forbade fat to them, so they sold it and consumed its price. And indeed, when Allah forbids a people to eat something, He also forbids its price to them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the Jews and the Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the women who frequently visit graves."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the one who brands an animal on the face."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the one who reviles my Companions."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the one who curses his parents; may Allah Almighty curse the one who slaughters in the name of other than Allah; may Allah Almighty curse the one who gives refuge to an innovator; and may Allah Almighty curse the one who alters the boundary markers of the land."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah Almighty curse the one who mutilates an animal."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May the curse of Allah be upon the one who gives a bribe and the one who takes a bribe."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A single going out in the path of Allah, in the morning or in the evening, is better than everything upon which the sun rises and sets; and a space in Paradise the length of a bow is better than everything upon which the sun rises and sets."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Going out in the path of Allah in the morning or the evening is better than the world and all that is in it; and a space in Paradise equal to the length of the bow of one of you, or the place of his whip, is better than the world and all that is in it. And if one of the women of the people of Paradise were to look down upon the earth, she would fill everything between the earth and the heavens with fragrance and would light it up; and even the veil on her head is better than the world and all that is in it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It pleased me greatly that the time of the Muslims' prayer should be one, so much so that I resolved to send men into the houses to call people when the time of prayer came, and I even resolved to order men to stand on the fortresses and call the Muslims at the time of prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Allah Almighty has completed His argument against a servant whom He kept alive until he reached sixty or seventy years; indeed, Allah has completed the argument against him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I have been commanded so much to use the siwak that I began to fear for my teeth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the whole world: from 'Indeed, We have granted you' up to 'great'."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tonight a surah has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than everything upon which the sun rises: 'Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Abu Musa has been given one of the flutes of the family of Dawud."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Abu Musa has been given some of the voices of the family of Dawud."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This man has been given one of the flutes of the family of Dawud." (He meant Abu Musa.)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I have been harmed in the path of Allah as no one else has been harmed, and I have been made to fear in the path of Allah as no one else has been made to fear. Thirty days and nights passed over me when Bilal and I had nothing that a living creature could eat, except something that Bilal could hide under his armpit."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril kept enjoining me about the neighbour so much that I thought he would make him an heir as well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"He has repented with such a repentance that, if all the people of Madinah were to repent likewise, it would be accepted from them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This woman has repented with such a repentance that, if it were divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, it would suffice them all. And could there be a better repentance than that she gave up her life for the sake of Allah?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You have restricted something vast."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You have restricted the vast mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah Almighty created one hundred mercies; of them He sent down one mercy by which the creatures, whether jinn, humans or animals, show compassion to one another, and with Him remain ninety-nine mercies. Do you say that he himself is more astray, or his camel?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Paradise was brought so near to me that, had I dared, I would have brought you some of its fruits; and the Fire was brought so near to me that I said: 'O Lord! Will I be among them too?' And I saw a woman being scratched by her cat. I asked: 'What is the matter with her?' It was said: 'She confined it until it died of hunger; she neither fed it nor let it go so that it could eat the creatures of the earth.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Just now, since I led you in prayer, I have seen Paradise and the Fire depicted before me in the qiblah side of this wall. I have never seen the like of this day in good and evil."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I saw the angels washing Hamzah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I saw a man turning about at ease in Paradise on account of a tree that he had cut down from the middle of the road, which used to harm people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I saw myself in the Hijr while Quraysh were asking me about my Night Journey. They asked me about things in Bayt al-Maqdis that I had not properly retained, and I was distressed as I had never been distressed before. Then Allah Almighty raised it up for me, and I began looking at it; whatever they asked me about, I informed them of it. And I saw myself among a group of the prophets: Musa was standing in prayer; he was a man with curly hair and of light build, as though he were one of the men of Shanu'ah. Isa bin Maryam was standing in prayer; the person who most resembled him was Urwah bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi. Ibrahim was standing in prayer; the person who most resembled him was your companion, meaning myself. Then the time for prayer came and I led them in prayer. When I had finished the prayer, someone said: 'O Muhammad! This is Malik, the keeper of the Fire, so greet him with salam.' I turned towards him, and he greeted me with salam first."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You have asked me about something great, yet it is easy for the one for whom Allah makes it easy: that you worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish the obligatory prayer, pay the obligatory zakah, fast in Ramadan and perform Hajj to the House. Shall I not tell you of the doors of goodness? Fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sin just as water extinguishes fire, and so does a man's prayer in the middle of the night. Shall I not tell you of the head of the matter, its pillar and its peak? The head of the matter is Islam; whoever accepts Islam is safe. Its pillar is prayer, and its peak is jihad. Shall I not tell you of what holds all of that together? Restrain this" - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to his tongue. He said: "O Prophet of Allah! Will we be taken to account for what we say?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Mu'adh! Does anything throw people into the Fire on their faces except the harvest of their tongues?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Last night many women came to the household of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), each of them complaining of being beaten by her husband. By Allah! You will not find those men to be the best among you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I recited this surah (Surah al-Rahman) to the jinn on the Night of the Jinn, and their response was better than yours. Whenever I reached the words of Allah, 'So which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?', they would say: 'O our Lord! We deny none of Your favours; so to You belongs all praise.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"After you, I said four phrases three times which, if they were weighed against all that you have said since this morning, would outweigh it: 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi, 'adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinata 'arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi' (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him, as many times as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as much as the weight of His Throne, and as much as the ink of His words)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You have said a word which, if it were mixed with the water of the sea, would alter it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I have suffered much from your people, and the hardest of what I suffered from them was on the Day of Aqabah, when I presented myself to Ibn Abd Yalil bin Abd Kulal, and he did not respond to what I wanted. So I went away in a state of grief, and I did not come to myself until I had reached Qarn al-Tha'alib. I raised my head and saw a cloud shading me. I looked, and in it was Jibril. He called out to me and said: 'Allah Almighty has heard what your people said to you and how they answered you, and He has sent to you the Angel of the Mountains so that you may command him as you wish regarding them.' Then the Angel of the Mountains called out to me, greeted me with salam, and said: 'O Muhammad! It is just so; now command whatever you wish. If you wish, I will bring the two mountains together upon them.' I said: 'No, rather I hope that Allah Almighty will bring forth from their descendants people who will worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I had resolved to order a man to lead the people in prayer, and then to set fire to the houses of those men who stay away from the Friday prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I had resolved to send for Abu Bakr and make a covenant (of succession) concerning him, so that no one would say anything or any wisher wish for anything. Then I said: Allah refuses it, and the believers will not accept it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I had resolved to curse him with a curse that would enter his grave with him. How can he make him an heir when that is not lawful for him? How can he use him as a servant when that is not lawful for him?!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I had resolved to forbid ghilah, until I remembered that the Romans and the Persians do that, and it does not harm their children."
