Hadith Beginning with the Letter Lam (ل)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There will certainly be people in my Ummah who will regard khazz (silk-blend cloth), silk, wine and musical instruments as lawful. And some people will camp at the foot of a mountain; their livestock will return to them in the evening, and a needy man will come to them, and they will say to him: Come back to us tomorrow. Then Allah will bring the mountain down upon them by night, and will turn some others into apes and swine until the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"In this Ummah there will certainly be sinking into the earth, pelting (with stones) and transformation (of forms), and that will be when people drink wine, keep singing girls and play musical instruments."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the night of the Mi'raj I saw Musa; he was a slender man, as though he were one of the men of (the tribe of) Shanu'ah. And I saw Isa; he was a man of medium height with a reddish complexion, as though he had just come out of a bathhouse. And I saw Ibrahim, and of all his descendants I resemble him the most. Then two vessels were brought to me, one containing milk and the other wine, and it was said to me: Drink whichever of them you wish. So I took the milk and drank it, and it was said to me: You have attained the fitrah (natural disposition). Listen! Had you taken the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the night I was taken on the Mi'raj, I did not pass by any group of angels but that they instructed me to have cupping done."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"One night of hospitality for a guest is a right upon every Muslim. So whichever guest spends the night in someone's courtyard until morning, that hospitality is a debt owed to him by that host; if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may leave it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Laylat al-Qadr is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, on the fifth or the third odd night."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Laylat al-Qadr is a bright night, neither hot nor cold, and no star is shot in it. And a sign of its day is that the sun rises without rays."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Laylat al-Qadr is the twenty-seventh or the twenty-ninth night. On that night the angels on the earth are more numerous than the number of pebbles."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Laylat al-Qadr is the twenty-seventh night."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Laylat al-Qadr is a gentle and open night, neither hot nor cold. On its morning the sun rises weak and red."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Let those of you who have intellect and understanding stand closest to me, then those after them, then those after them. And do not differ among yourselves, lest your hearts differ, and beware of the clamour of the marketplaces."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Of every two men, let one of them go forth, and the reward will be shared between them both."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The knots of Islam will certainly be undone, one by one."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people must certainly stop raising their eyes towards the sky during supplication in the prayer, or else their sight will be snatched away."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people must certainly stop abandoning the Friday prayers, or else Allah will set a seal upon their hearts, and then they will be among the heedless."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people who raise their eyes towards the sky in the prayer must certainly stop doing so, or else their sight will not return to them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people who boast about their dead forefathers must certainly stop doing so; those forefathers are but the coal of Hell. Otherwise, they will become more insignificant in the sight of Allah than the dung beetle that rolls filth with its nose. Indeed, Allah has removed from you the arrogance of the Jahiliyyah and its boasting about forefathers. A person is either a God-fearing believer or a wretched sinner. All people are the children of Adam, and Adam was created from dust."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man should help his brother whether he is an oppressor or oppressed. If he is an oppressor, he should stop him from oppression, for that is his help; and if he is oppressed, he should help him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the Day of Resurrection, the people who lived in well-being will certainly wish that their skins had been cut with scissors, when they see the reward of the people of affliction."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man will certainly wish that he had fallen from the Pleiades (al-Thurayya) and had not taken charge of any of the affairs of the people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Soon a man will wish that he had fallen from the Pleiades (al-Thurayya) and had not taken charge of any of the affairs of the people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The delaying (of repayment) by one who is able to repay a debt makes lawful (the violation of) his honour and his punishment."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seeing milk in a dream is a sign of the fitrah (natural disposition)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The lahd (niche grave) is for us, and the shaqq (trench grave) is for others."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The lahd (niche grave) is for us, and the shaqq (trench grave) is for the People of the Book other than us."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who misses the Asr prayer is as though his family and his wealth have been snatched away from him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who does not complete his bowing (ruku') and pecks in his prostration is like a hungry person who eats one or two dates, which do not benefit him at all."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who does not sleep until he has prayed witr is prudent."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever kills himself by strangling himself will keep strangling himself in Hell, and whoever kills himself by stabbing himself will keep stabbing himself in Hell."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The example of one who begs without need is like that of a person picking up live embers."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who drinks from a silver vessel is only gulping down the fire of Hell into his belly."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who recites the Qur'an and is proficient in it will be with the noble, righteous scribes (the angels), and the one who recites it while it is difficult for him will have a double reward."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Recreation is permissible in three things: training your horse, shooting with your bow, and playing with your wife."
