«لقد هممت أن أرسل إلى أبي بكر وأنبه فأعهد أن يقول القائلون أو يتمنى المتمنون ثم قلت: يأبى الله ويدفع المؤمنون»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I had resolved to send for Abu Bakr and make a covenant (of succession) concerning him, so that no one would say anything or any wisher wish for anything. Then I said: Allah refuses it, and the believers will not accept it."
