Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved names to Allah are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahman."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved names to Allah are Abdullah, Abdur-Rahman and Harith."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved of deeds to Allah is that which is done continually, even if it is little."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved deed to Allah is performing the prayer at its proper time, then kindness to parents, and then jihad in the path of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved deed to Allah is that death comes to you while your tongue is moist with the remembrance of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved deeds to Allah are belief in Allah, then maintaining ties of kinship, then enjoining good and forbidding evil. And the most hated deeds to Allah are associating partners with Allah and then severing ties of kinship (breaking family relations)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved places in the lands to Allah are their mosques, and the most hated places in the lands to Allah are their markets."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The best jihad in the sight of Allah is a word of truth spoken before a tyrannical ruler."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved speech to me is the most truthful."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved fasting to Allah is the fasting of Dawud (peace be upon him); he would fast one day and leave off fasting one day. And the most beloved prayer to Allah is the prayer of Dawud (peace be upon him); he would sleep half the night, stand in prayer for a third of it, and then sleep for a sixth of it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved food to Allah is that upon which there are many hands (of those eating)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved of servants to Allah Almighty is the one who is most beneficial to His dependents (that is, His creation)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved speech to Allah Almighty is four phrases: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), wal-hamdu lillah (and praise be to Allah), wa la ilaha illallah (and there is no god but Allah) and wallahu akbar (and Allah is the Greatest). It will not harm you with which of them you begin your remembrance."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved speech to Allah Almighty is that the servant says: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved speech to Allah Almighty is that which Allah Almighty has chosen for His angels: Subhana Rabbi wa bihamdihi, Subhana Rabbi wa bihamdihi, Subhana Rabbi wa bihamdihi (Glory be to my Lord and praise be to Him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved of people to Allah Almighty is the one who is most beneficial to people, and the most beloved deed to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is the joy that you bring into the heart of a Muslim, or that you remove a hardship from him, or pay off a debt for him, or drive away his hunger. And that I walk with my Muslim brother to fulfil some need of his is more beloved to me than that I observe i'tikaf in this mosque for a month. Whoever restrains his anger, Allah will conceal his faults; and whoever swallows his rage when, had he wished to carry it out, he could have done so, Allah will fill his heart with contentment on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever walks with his Muslim brother to fulfil his need until he secures it for him, Allah Almighty will make his feet firm on the Day when feet will slip. And indeed bad character spoils deeds just as vinegar spoils honey."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved of people to me is Aishah, and among men, her father (Abu Bakr)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Love your friend in moderation, for perhaps he may become your enemy one day; and hate your enemy in moderation, for perhaps he may become your friend one day."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most beloved of Allah's servants to Him are those who are best in character."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Love for people what you love for yourself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Endow its source (the land or tree) and give its fruit in charity in the path of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Keep your children in (from going out at the time of Maghrib) until the first darkness of Isha passes, for it is a time in which the devils spread out."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Adam and Musa (peace be upon them both) argued with one another, and Adam (peace be upon him) prevailed over Musa (peace be upon him) (with his argument)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Adam and Musa (peace be upon them both) argued with one another. Musa (peace be upon him) said: 'You are Adam, whom Allah Almighty created with His Hand, breathed into you of His spirit, made His angels prostrate to you and settled you in His Paradise; then, because of your sin, you caused people to be expelled from Paradise and brought them into hardship!' Adam (peace be upon him) replied: 'O Musa! You are the one whom Allah Almighty chose for His messages and His speech, and upon whom He sent down the Torah. Do you blame me for a matter which Allah Almighty had written in my decree even before He created me?!' Thus Adam (peace be upon him) prevailed over Musa (peace be upon him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Paradise and the Fire disputed with one another. Paradise said: 'The weak and the poor will enter me.' And the Fire said: 'The tyrants and the arrogant will enter me.' So Allah Almighty said to the Fire: 'You are My punishment; through you I will take retribution from whomever I will.' And He said to Paradise: 'You are My mercy; through you I will show mercy to whomever I will.' And each of you two shall have its fill."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Throw dust in the faces of those who praise others to their faces."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Throw dust into the mouths of those who praise others to their faces."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Perform Hajj and Umrah on behalf of your father."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Make it one, make it one." (That is, point with one finger.)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Make it one, O Sa'd!" (That is, point with one finger.)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Beware of this world, for it is green and sweet (alluring)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The worst name in the sight of Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection will be that of a man who is called Malik al-Amlak (King of kings)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The best of people in recitation is the one who, when he recites the Qur'an, you feel that he fears Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Establish the rows properly and straight in the prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Be good to the doers of good among the Ansar, and pardon the wrongdoers among them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Gather together, for I will recite to you a third of the Qur'an." Then he recited {Say: He is Allah, the One} [Surah al-Ikhlas: 1] and said: "Listen! Indeed it is equal to a third of the Qur'an."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Keep count of the crescent of Sha'ban for the sake of Ramadan (its fasting)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Keep count of the crescent of Sha'ban for the sake of Ramadan, and do not join (fasts) to Ramadan by fasting a day or two before it, unless that day coincides with a fast which one of you customarily observes. Fast upon sighting it (the crescent) and break the fast (celebrate Eid) upon sighting it. If it is obscured from you by clouds, then complete the count of thirty days, for the count is not hidden from you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Attend the Friday prayer and sit close to the imam, for a man keeps on staying back until he is placed behind in Paradise, even if he enters it."
