It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The signs (of the Hour) are like beads strung on a thread; when the thread is cut, they follow one after another." Khalid bin al-Huwayrith said: We were sitting in a gathering in the morning, and Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) was there, and there was also a woman of Banu al-Mughirah named Fatimah. She heard Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: "That is Yazid bin Mu'awiyah." The woman asked: O Abdullah bin Amr! Do you find it written like this in the Book (the revealed scriptures)? He said: I do not find him by his name, but I find (by description) a man who will be from the family tree of Mu'awiyah; he will shed blood, treat wealth as lawful, and demolish this House (the Ka'bah) stone by stone. If that time comes in my lifetime, so be it; otherwise, remember me. The narrator said: The woman's house was on Mount Abu Qubays. When the time of al-Hajjaj and Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and she saw the House being demolished, she said: May Allah Almighty have mercy on Abdullah bin Amr; he had already told us about this.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A people will come with small eyes and broad faces, as though their faces were shields, and they will drive the people of Islam to the places where wormwood shrubs grow (the wilderness). It is as though I am looking at them, having tied their horses to the pillars of the mosque." It was said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Who are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are the Turks."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.
And the two Shaykhs agree that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until you fight the Turks, whose faces are broad, eyes small and noses flat, as though their faces were layered leather shields."

Imam al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard the jurist and man of letters Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Ali al-Qaffal say more than once: I heard Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Yahya al-Suli, the grammarian, say: The first of the Arab poets to praise the Turks was Ali bin al-Abbas al-Rumi, when he said these verses: "When they stand firm, they are a wall of iron; our eyes are left bewildered at the sight. And when they come out to battle, they are a blazing fire that flares up against the enemies. They are the kings of the earth; when they come forth their eyes seem small, but their spirits are great."
