أخبرنا أبو عمرو بن السَّمّاك، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن منصور، حدثنا معاذ بن هشام، حدثني أبي، عن قَتَادة، عن محمد بن سِيرِين، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن عمرو قال: يوشك بنو قَنطُورَ بن كركر أن يُخرِجوا أهل العراق من أرضهم، قلت: ثم يعودون (3)؟ قال: إنك تشتهي ذلك؟ قال: ويكون لهم سَلْوةٌ من عَيش (4).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Soon Banu Qanturah (the Turks) will expel the people of Iraq from their land." I asked: Will they (the Iraqis) then return? He said: "Is that what you want?" And then they will have ease in life.

(3) في نسخنا الخطية: يعودوا، بحذف النون، والجادَّة إثباتها كما في "تلخيص الذهبي".
Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts "يعودوا" is written (with the nun dropped), whereas the standard usage (al-jaddah) is to keep the nun (i.e. "يعودون"), as in al-Dhahabi's "al-Talkhis".
(4) إسناده حسن في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن منصور هشام والد معاذ: هو ابن أبي عبد الله الدَّستُوائي، وانظر ما بعده.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" in corroborations and supporting reports, on account of "'Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad bin Mansur".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hisham (mentioned in the chain), the father of Mu'adh, is "Ibn Abi 'Abdullah al-Dastuwa'i". See the next narration.
