Al-Waqidi said: Imran bin Husayn bin Ubayd bin Khalaf bin Abd Nuhm bin Hudhayfah bin Himyar bin Ghadirah bin Habashah bin Ka'b bin Amr bin Khuza'ah. Imran's kunyah was Abu Nujayd. He and his father both accepted Islam early, and he took part in several military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He continued to live in the land of his people, coming often to Madinah, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. Then he moved to Basrah and lived there until he died there. Some of his descendants remain, and Khalid bin Taliq bin Muhammad bin Imran bin Husayn served as judge of Basrah. It is said that Husayn died a Muslim, and it has also been narrated that he died a polytheist; what is correct is that he accepted Islam.
