حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ السِّمْسَارُ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَبِي الْفَضْلِ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ قَالَ: قَالَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ: «ذَهَبَ الْمُطْعِمُونَ وَبَقِيَ الْمُسْتَطْعِمُونَ، وَذَهَبَ الْمُذْكَرُونَ وَبَقِيَ الْمَنْسِيُّونَ» قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: «أَمَا وَاللهِ لَوْ كَانَ عِمْرَانُ الْيَوْمَ حَيًّا لَكَانَ أَقْوَلَ»
Al-Hasan al-Basri said that Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Those who fed others have gone and those who ask to be fed remain; those who were remembered have gone and those who are forgotten remain. Al-Hasan said: By Allah, if Imran were alive today, he would have said even more.
