It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, keeps the homes of a people flourishing and blesses their wealth with increase, though He has not looked at them (with the look of mercy) since He created them, out of dislike for them." It was asked: How is that, O Messenger of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because of their maintaining ties of kinship."

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I love you so much that I keep remembering you; if I did not come and see you, I feel my soul would leave me. And it occurs to me that if I enter Paradise, I will be below you in rank; this weighs heavily on me, and I wish to be with you in the same rank. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him no reply, so Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favour" [Al-Nisa: 69] to the end of the verse. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and recited it to him.
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 12506
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: One morning the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there no water? Is there no water?" The Companions said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there a leather vessel (waterskin)?" So they brought the waterskin, and it was placed before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand on it, then spread his fingers apart, and water gushed forth from the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) like the staff of Musa (peace be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Bilal! Call the people to ablution." So the people began to perform ablution from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was intent on drinking. When the people had finished ablution, he (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the Fajr prayer.
Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down for the people and said: "O people! Whose faith is the most wondrous of all creation?" The Companions said: The angels'. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why would the angels not believe when they see (the reality) with their own eyes?" The Companions said: Then the prophets', O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why would the prophets not believe when revelation comes down to them from the heavens?" The Companions said: Then your Companions', O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why would my Companions not believe when they see what they see? Rather, the people of the most wondrous faith are a people who will come after me; they will believe in me though they have not seen me, and they will affirm my truth though they have not seen me. They are my brothers."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 12507
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The delegation of the tribe of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which of you knows Quss bin Sa'idah al-Iyadi?" They said: O Messenger of Allah! We all know him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Then what became of him?" They said: He has passed away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I can never forget him at the fair of Ukaz in the sacred month, riding a red camel and addressing the people, saying: 'O people! Gather together, listen and take heed. Whoever lives dies, and whoever dies is gone, and all that is to come will surely come. Indeed, in the sky there is news, and in the earth there are lessons: a spread-out bed and a raised roof, stars that move about, and seas that do not dry up. Quss swears a true oath: if there is pleasure in the earth, then after it there will surely be displeasure. Indeed, Allah has a religion that is more beloved to Him than this religion of yours on which you are. What is the matter with me that I see people going and not returning? Were they pleased (with their place) and so they stayed, or were they left (there) and so they fell asleep?'" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there anyone among you who narrates his poetry?" So one of them recited these verses:
Among those who went before, of the earlier generations, there are lessons for us.
When I saw the watering places of death from which there is no coming back,
And I saw my people, young and old, all hastening towards them,
The one who has passed does not return to me, nor does any of those who remain stay behind,
I became certain that I too will inevitably go where the people have gone.
