قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ النَّهْدِيِّ ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ الْمَغْرِبَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى حَتَّى صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَلَكٌ عَرَضَ لِي فَاسْتَأْذَنَ رَبَّهُ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ عَلَيَّ وَيُبَشِّرَنِي أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - سَيِّدَةُ نِسَاءِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَأَنَّ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - شَبَابُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him): I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and prayed the Maghrib prayer with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to pray (voluntary prayer) until the time of the Isha prayer came and he (peace and blessings be upon him) led that prayer. Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out of the mosque, I too followed in his (peace and blessings be upon him) footsteps. At that time he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An angel appeared before me; he had sought permission from his Lord to convey salam to me and to give me the glad tidings that Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) is the leader of all the women of the people of Paradise, and that Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) are the leaders of the youth of the people of Paradise."

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ الْعَبْسِيُّ ، ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ قَرْمٍ ، عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّفَرِ ، عَنْ خِيَرَةَ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - قَالَتْ : خَطَبَنِي عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فَأَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ أَسْمَاءَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - مُتَزَوِّجَةٌ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا كَانَ لَهَا أَنْ تُؤْذِيَ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me a proposal of marriage. When this news reached Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Indeed, Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) is going to marry Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not at all fitting for her to cause hurt to Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)."
The chain of this hadith contains the narrators Sulayman bin Qarm and Harun bin Sa'd, because of which this narration has been declared da'if (weak).

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَنِيمٍ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ ، عَنْ أُمِّ بَكْرٍ ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تُقْطَعُ الْأَسْبَابُ وَالْأَنْسَابُ وَالْأَصْهَارُ إِلَّا صِهْرِي ، فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا شِجْنَةٌ مِنِّي ، يَقْبِضُنِي مَا قَبَضَهَا ، وَيَبْسُطُنِي مَا بَسَطَهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "All ties, kinships of lineage and in-law relationships will be cut off except my in-law relationship. Indeed Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) is 'a part of my very being'; whatever grieves her grieves me as well, and whatever gladdens her gladdens me as well."

وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، ثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - قَالَ : إِنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْطِبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : أَتَرَوْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَجِدُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَقَالَ نَاسٌ : وَمَا ذَلِكَ ؟ إِنَّمَا هِيَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ ، وَقَالَ نَاسٌ : لَيَجِدَنَّ مِنْ هَذَا ، يَتَزَوَّجُ ابْنَةَ عَدُوِّ اللهِ عَلَى ابْنَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَمَّا بَعْدُ ، فَمَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنِّي لَا أَجِدُ لِفَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - وَإِنَّمَا فَاطِمَةُ بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي ؟ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ ابْنَةَ عَدُوِّ اللهِ عَلَى ابْنَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ ، وَأَصْلُ الْحَدِيثِ فِي الصَّحِيحَيْنِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْمِسْوَرِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - فَانْقَلَبَ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، وَهُوَ سَيِّئُ الْحِفْظِ .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ ، وَأَصْلُ الْحَدِيثِ فِي الصَّحِيحَيْنِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْمِسْوَرِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - فَانْقَلَبَ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، وَهُوَ سَيِّئُ الْحِفْظِ .
It is narrated from Ali bin al-Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to propose marriage to the daughter of Abu Jahl. The people said (talking among themselves): "Do you think the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will feel (grief and displeasure in his heart) over this?" Some people said: "Why would that be? She is just a woman like other women," while others said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) will certainly feel it, that the daughter of the enemy of Allah should be brought into marriage (as a co-wife) while the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is his wife." This reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) praised and extolled Allah Almighty, then said: "To proceed: what is the matter with people who claim that I will not feel (the hurt of) (Sayyidah) Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her)? Fatimah is but a part of my own body. Indeed it is not permissible for anyone to marry the daughter of the enemy of Allah while the daughter of the Messenger of Allah is his wife."
This narration is mursal, and the origin of this hadith is in the two Sahihs from the narration of Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him). In fact, al-Miswar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this incident to Ali bin al-Husayn, but it became reversed for the narrator Ali bin Zayd (that is, he erred in the chain and reported it as mursal), and Ali bin Zayd has a poor memory.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، هُوَ ابْنُ عَائِشَةَ ، ثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : خَدِيجَةُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - خَيْرُ نِسَاءِ عَالَمِهَا ، وَمَرْيَمُ - عَلَيْهَا السَّلَامُ - خَيْرُ نِسَاءِ عَالَمِهَا ، وَفَاطِمَةُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - خَيْرُ نِسَاءِ عَالَمِهَا .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْ طَرِيقِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ - بِلَفْظِ : " خَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا مَرْيَمُ ، خَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا فَاطِمَةُ " .
وَهَذَا الْمُرْسَلُ يُفَسِّرُ هَذَا الْمُتَّصِلَ .
( 169 ) وَسَيَأْتِي - إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى - فِي الْفِتَنِ فِي ذِكْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَشْيَاءُ كَثِيرَةٌ .
( 170 ) وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي الْحَمْرَاءِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي ذِكْرِ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ وَفَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ - تَقَدَّمَ فِي تَفْسِيرِ الْأَحْزَابِ .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْ طَرِيقِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ - بِلَفْظِ : " خَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا مَرْيَمُ ، خَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا فَاطِمَةُ " .
وَهَذَا الْمُرْسَلُ يُفَسِّرُ هَذَا الْمُتَّصِلَ .
( 169 ) وَسَيَأْتِي - إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى - فِي الْفِتَنِ فِي ذِكْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَشْيَاءُ كَثِيرَةٌ .
( 170 ) وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي الْحَمْرَاءِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي ذِكْرِ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ وَفَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ - تَقَدَّمَ فِي تَفْسِيرِ الْأَحْزَابِ .
It is narrated from Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) (as a mursal report) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) is the best of all the women of her time, Sayyidah Maryam (peace be upon her) is the best of all the women of her era, and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) is the best and most excellent of all the women of her age."
This narration is mursal and its chain is sahih (authentic). Al-Tirmidhi also recorded it through Urwah, from Abdullah bin Ja'far, from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), with these words: "The best woman among them is Maryam, and the best woman among them is Fatimah."
And this mursal narration explains and interprets this hadith with a connected chain.

وَقَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : زَارَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَاتَ عِنْدَنَا ، وَالْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - نَائِمَانِ ، فَاسْتَسْقَى الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى قِرْبَةٍ ، فَجَعَلَ يَعْتَصِرُهَا فِي الْقَدَحِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ يَسْقِيهِ ، فَتَنَاوَلَ الْحُسَيْنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَشْرَبُ ، فَمَنَعَهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَدَأَ بِالْحَسَنِ ، فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : كَأَنَّهُ أَحَبُّهُمَا إِلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ اسْتَسْقَى أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي وَإِيَّاكِ وَهَذَانِ - وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ - وَهَذَا الرَّاقِدُ - يَعْنِي عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي مَكَانٍ وَاحِدٍ .
3954 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، ثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ .. فَذَكَرَهُ .
3954 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، ثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ .. فَذَكَرَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our home and spent the night with us. At that time al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) were asleep. Then al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for water, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to a waterskin and began squeezing water out of it into a cup. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to give him a drink, and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) reached out to drink, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) held him back and began with al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him). At this Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "It is as if he is the dearer of the two to you?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but he asked for water first." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I, you, these two and (the narrator said: I think he (peace and blessings be upon him) said) 'and this sleeper', meaning Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), will be in one place on the Day of Resurrection."
Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith through Ibrahim bin Sa'id, Husayn bin Muhammad, Amr bin Thabit, his father and Abu Fakhitah, from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and narrated it just like the previous narration.

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَنَا النَّضْرُ ، هُوَ ابْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، ثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، هُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ ، سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ جَعْدَةَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِفَاطِمَةَ : إِنَّهُ كَانَ يُعْرَضُ عَلَيَّ الْقُرْآنُ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ ، وَإِنَّهُ عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ الْعَامَ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَإِنِّي مَيِّتٌ فَبَكَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّكِ أَوَّلُ أَهْلِي لُحُوقًا بِي .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ وَقَدْ وُصِلَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ .

It is narrated from Yahya bin Ja'dah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Indeed the Qur'an used to be presented to me (through Jibril (peace be upon him)) every year, but this year the Qur'an has been presented to me twice, and I surely find that the time of my death is now near." On hearing this she wept (out of grief and sorrow), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said (consoling her): "Surely you will be the first of my family to come and join me."

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : أَرْسَلَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فَجَاءَتْ تَمْشِي مِشْيَةَ أَبِيهَا ، فَحَدَّثَهَا فَبَكَتْ ، فَسُئِلَتْ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فَقَالَتْ : لَا أُخْبِرُ بِسِرِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدًا .

It is narrated from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them) that she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) (with a message). So she came, and her manner of walking closely resembled the walk of her noble father (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to her privately and she began to weep. When she was asked about it, she said: "I will not tell anyone the secret of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

The hadith scholars recorded a lengthy narration with a similar meaning through al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), but it does not mention the sending (of one of the wives), so it is possible that a different wife is meant here.

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، ثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا قَطُّ أَصْدَقَ مِنْ فَاطِمَةَ غَيْرَ أَبِيهَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا شَيْءٌ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، سَلْهَا فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَكْذِبُ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "I have never found anyone more truthful in speech and conversation than Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), apart from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Some (unpleasantness or disagreement) arose between the two of them (Sayyidah Aishah and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them both)) in some matter, so she (Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)) said: "O Messenger of Allah, ask her yourself, for she never lies."

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ زَنْجَلَةَ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقَامَ أَيَّامًا لَمْ يَطْعَمْ طَعَامًا حَتَّى شَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَطَافَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَنَازِلِ أَزْوَاجِهِ ، فَلَمْ يُصِبْ عِنْدَ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا ، فَأَتَى فَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فَقَالَ : يَا بُنَيَّةُ ، هَلْ عِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ آكُلُهُ ، فَإِنِّي جَائِعٌ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : لَا وَاللهِ ، بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهَا بَعَثَتْ إِلَيْهَا جَارَةٌ لَهَا بِرَغِيفَيْنِ وَقِطْعَةِ لَحْمٍ ، فَأَخَذَتْهُ مِنْهَا ، فَوَضَعَتْهُ فِي جَفْنَةٍ لَهَا وَغَطَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ، وَقَالَتْ : وَاللهِ لَأُوثِرَنَّ بِهَذَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَمَنْ عِنْدِي ، وَكَانُوا جَمِيعًا مُحْتَاجِينَ إِلَى شُبْعَةِ طَعَامٍ ، فَبَعَثَتْ حَسَنًا أَوْ حُسَيْنًا - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي ، قَدْ أَتَى اللهُ تَعَالَى بِشَيْءٍ فَخَبَّأْتُهُ لَكَ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَلُمِّي بِهِ ، فَأَتَتْهُ بِهِ فَكَشَفَ عَنِ الْجَفْنَةِ فَإِذَا هِيَ مَمْلُوءَةٌ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا ، فَلَمَّا نَظَرَتْ إِلَيْهَا بَهِتَتْ ، وَعَرَفَتْ أَنَّهَا بَرَكَةٌ مِنَ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - فَحَمِدَتِ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَصَلَّتْ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَدَّمَتْهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ حَمِدَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَقَالَ : مِنْ أَيْنَ لَكِ هَذَا يَا بُنَيَّةُ ؟ فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَتِ ، مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ ؛ إِنَّ اللهَ يَرْزُقُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ .
فَحَمِدَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَقَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَكِ يَا بُنَيَّةُ ، شَبِيهَةً لِسَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ إِذَا رَزَقَهَا اللهُ شَيْئًا فَسُئِلَتْ عَنْهُ قَالَتْ : مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَرْزُقُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ .
فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، ثُمَّ أَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلِيٌّ ، وَفَاطِمَةُ ، وَحَسَنٌ ، وَحُسَيْنٌ ، وَجَمِيعُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ جَمِيعًا - حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ، وَبَقِيَتِ الْجَفْنَةُ كَمَا هِيَ ، قَالَتْ : فَأَوْسَعْتُ بِبَقِيَّتِهَا عَلَى جَمِيعِ جِيرَانِي ، وَجَعَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فِيهَا بَرَكَةً وَخَيْرًا كَثِيرًا .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went hungry for several days and ate nothing, until this hunger began to weigh heavily on him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the houses of his wives but did not find anything to eat with any of them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O my dear daughter, do you have anything to eat? For I am feeling very hungry." She said: "No, by Allah! May my father and mother be ransomed for you." When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had left her, a neighbour of hers sent her two loaves of bread and a piece of meat as a gift. She took the gift, placed it in a large bowl of hers and covered it, and said (to herself): "By Allah, I will prefer the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) over myself and my household with this food," even though they were all hungry at that time and in need of every morsel. Then she sent Sayyiduna al-Hasan or al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) came back, she said: "O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, Allah Almighty has provided sustenance from the unseen, and I have kept it aside for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Daughter, bring it." So when she brought it and removed the cloth from the bowl, she saw that the bowl was full to the brim with bread and meat. She was astonished on seeing it and knew that this was a special blessing from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. So she praised Allah and invoked blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then presented the food to him (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he praised and extolled Allah and asked: "O my dear daughter, where did you get this from?" She said: "O my father, it is from Allah. Indeed Allah Almighty provides for whomever He wills without measure" [Surah Al Imran: 37].
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) praised Allah Almighty and said: "All praise is for Allah who has made you, O my dear daughter, resemble the leader of the women of the Children of Israel (Sayyidah Maryam (peace be upon her))," for whenever Allah granted her some provision and she was asked about it, she too would say: "It is from Allah. Indeed Allah provides for whomever He wills without measure" [Surah Al Imran: 37]. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyidah Fatimah, Sayyiduna al-Hasan, Sayyiduna al-Husayn, all the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his entire household (may Allah be pleased with them) ate that food until they were all full, yet the bowl remained full just as it was. قَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ هَكَذَا إِلَّا عَمْرٌو ، وَهُوَ كُوفِيٌّ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ مُرْسَلًا .
قَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ هَكَذَا إِلَّا عَمْرٌو ، وَهُوَ كُوفِيٌّ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ مُرْسَلًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) guarded her chastity and modesty so completely that Allah Almighty has made the Fire of Hell forbidden for her offspring."

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ يُحَنَّسَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - فَقَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُ فَأَحِبَّهُ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of Sayyiduna al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) (with great affection) and supplicated to Allah: "O Allah, indeed I love him, so You love him too."

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ ، هُوَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، عَنْ عِلْبَاءَ بْنِ أَحْمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : خَطَبْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْنَتَهُ فَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فَبَاعَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ دِرْعًا لَهُ ، وَبَعْضَ مَا بَاعَ مِنْ مَتَاعِهِ ، فَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعَمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ وَثَمَانِينَ دِرْهَمًا . وَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ ثُلُثَيْهِ فِي الطِّيبِ ، وَثُلُثًا فِي الثِّيَابِ ، وَمَجَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَرَّةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ ، فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلُوا بِهِ ، وَأَمَرَهَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا تَسْبِقَهُ بِرَضَاعِ وَلَدِهَا ، قَالَ : فَسَبَقَتْهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَضَاعِ الْحُسَيْنِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : وَأَمَّا الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَضَعَ فِي فِيهِ شَيْئًا لَا أَدْرِي مَا هُوَ ، كَانَ أَعْلَمَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I proposed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for marriage to his daughter Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). So Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sold a coat of armour of his and some other belongings of his, whose value reached 480 dirhams. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered: 'Two-thirds of this amount should be spent on buying perfume and one-third on clothing.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also rinsed his mouth into a jar of water and ordered them (Ali and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them both)): 'They should bathe with this water.' And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also instructed Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): 'She should not nurse her child before him (peace and blessings be upon him) (but should wait for him (peace and blessings be upon him) to come).' The narrator said: Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) went ahead of him (peace and blessings be upon him) in nursing Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), while about Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put something into his blessed mouth, I do not know what it was, and he was the more knowledgeable of the two (brothers)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Whoever would be delighted to look at a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), for I indeed heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this about him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Whoever loves me, let him also love these two (princes)."

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) began wrestling with each other in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began saying (encouraging Sayyiduna al-Hasan): "Well done, Hasan! (Push hard!)" At this Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah, is (Sayyiduna) al-Hasan dearer to you than (Sayyiduna) al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Jibril (peace be upon him) is helping al-Husayn, and I preferred to help al-Hasan."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I saw Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) riding on the blessed shoulders of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I said (addressing them): "What an excellent mount you have beneath you!" At this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And what excellent riders these two are!"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated in prayer, (Sayyiduna) al-Hasan or al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) would come and climb onto his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed back, and because of this he (peace and blessings be upon him) would lengthen the prostration. So it would be said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Prophet of Allah, did you lengthen the prostration?" And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "My son had made me his mount, so I disliked hurrying him (to get down)."

I peeped in and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turning something over in his palm, while the child was asleep on his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed stomach. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I saw you turning something over in your palm while the child was asleep on your blessed stomach and tears were streaming from your eyes?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Jibril (peace be upon him) brought me the soil of the land on which he will be martyred, and he informed me that your Ummah will surely kill him."
