وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، ثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : اصْطَرَعَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " هِي حَسَنٌ " فَقَالَتْ لَهُ فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَأَنَّهُ - يَعْنِي الْحَسَنَ - أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْحُسَيْنِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ - عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ - يُعِينُ الْحُسَيْنَ ، وَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُعِينَ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ .

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) began wrestling with each other in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began saying (encouraging Sayyiduna al-Hasan): "Well done, Hasan! (Push hard!)" At this Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah, is (Sayyiduna) al-Hasan dearer to you than (Sayyiduna) al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Jibril (peace be upon him) is helping al-Husayn, and I preferred to help al-Hasan."
