It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I saw Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) riding on the blessed shoulders of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I said (addressing them): "What an excellent mount you have beneath you!" At this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And what excellent riders these two are!"
Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad; the hadith scholars have criticised the narrator in its chain named Husayn bin Hasan al-Ashqar, but other narrations with this meaning exist in the books of hadith as supporting evidence.
