Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the right hand of Allah Almighty is full; continuous spending day and night does not diminish it. Just consider how much He has spent since He created the heavens and the earth! Yet, despite that, nothing has diminished from what is in His right hand. His Throne is upon the water, and in His other hand is the withholding (al-qabd); He raises and lowers."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, on Monday and Thursday Allah Almighty forgives every Muslim except two people who have cut off relations with each other. Allah Almighty says (to the angels): 'Leave these two until they reconcile with each other.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Friday is the leader of all days and the greatest of them in the sight of Allah Almighty. It is greater in the sight of Allah than the day of Eid al-Adha and the day of Eid al-Fitr. In it there are five characteristics (important matters): on this day Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him); on this day Allah sent Adam (peace be upon him) down to the earth; on this day Allah caused Adam (peace be upon him) to die; on it there is an hour in which the servant does not ask Allah for anything except that Allah certainly grants it to him, provided he does not ask for something forbidden; and on this day the Hour will be established. There is no angel brought near, nor sky, nor earth, nor winds, nor mountains, nor sea, except that it fears Friday, lest the Hour be established on it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are the family of Muhammad, and charity (sadaqah) is not lawful for us."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are the family of Muhammad, and charity (sadaqah) is not lawful for us; and certainly the freed slave of a people is counted as one of them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are an unlettered nation; we neither write nor calculate."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we have had a ring made and have had an inscription engraved on it, so let no one else engrave an inscription like it on his ring."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we had forbidden you from eating the meat of the sacrificial animals beyond three days (by storing it) so that it would suffice for all of you. Now Allah Almighty has granted abundance and plenty, so eat it, store it and benefit from it. And listen! Indeed, these days are days of eating, drinking and the remembrance of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we will never appoint to this (governmental) work of ours anyone who desires (or seeks) it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we, the community of prophets, have been commanded to hasten our breaking of the fast, to delay our pre-dawn meal (suhur), and to place our right hands on our left hands in prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are the community of prophets; our eyes sleep but our hearts do not sleep."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are the community of prophets; trials and hardships are doubled for us."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we are about to deliver the (Eid) sermon. So whoever wishes to sit to listen to the sermon, let him sit, and whoever wishes to leave, let him leave."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we have been forbidden from having our private parts ('awrah) seen."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"By Allah! We will never appoint to this (governmental) office anyone who has asked for it, nor anyone who covets it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we do not seek help from polytheists against polytheists."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we do not seek help from a polytheist."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, we do not accept anything (such as gifts) from the polytheists."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, if you pursue people's hidden faults, you will corrupt them, or you will come close to corrupting them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, you are going to a people who are People of the Book. So let the first thing you call them to be the worship of Allah. When they come to know Allah, inform them that Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon them in their day and night. When they do that, inform them that Allah has made zakah obligatory upon them, to be taken from their wealth and returned to their poor. So when they obey in this, take (the zakah) from them, but avoid the choicest and best of people's wealth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You invited us, five men, and we were five (in it), and this (sixth) man has followed us. So if you wish, give him permission (to come in), and if you wish, he will go back."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You are going to a people who are People of the Book. So when you reach them, invite them to bear witness that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. If they accept this from you, then inform them that Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon them in every day and night. Then if they accept this too, inform them that Allah has made charity (zakah) obligatory upon them, which will be taken from their rich and distributed among their poor. So if they obey you in this as well, then beware of (taking as zakah) the finest of their wealth, and fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no veil between it and Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, you are like that first man who said: O Allah, find me a friend who is dearer to me than my own self."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"If you are left behind (in Makkah) after me and do any righteous deed, you will surely increase in rank and elevation because of it. Then perhaps you will remain (in the world for some more time), until some peoples benefit through you and others are harmed. O Allah, complete the emigration of my Companions and do not turn them back on their heels (into apostasy). But the one to be pitied is (Sa'd bin Khawlah) (for he died in Makkah itself)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You complete seventy (70) nations (that is, you are the seventieth nation); you are the best of them all and the most honoured in the sight of Allah Almighty."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will be gathered here (on the plain of the Gathering) walking on foot, riding on mounts, and being dragged on your faces", and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his hand towards the land of Sham.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, you are waiting for a prayer that the followers of no religion other than yours wait for. Were it not that I feared it would be a hardship upon my Ummah, I would lead them in this prayer (that is, the delayed Isha prayer) at this very hour."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will soon be intensely eager to attain leadership (office and rule), yet on the Day of Resurrection it will be a cause of regret and sorrow. So it (leadership) is an excellent wet-nurse (that is, giving worldly benefits at first), but a terrible weaner (that is, when it is snatched away at dismissal or death)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"After me you will soon see unfair preference (the unworthy being preferred over the worthy) and matters that you will disapprove of. (At that time) keep giving them (the rulers) their right, and ask (only) Allah Almighty for your own right."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will soon see your Lord (clearly) just as you see this moon; you will face no difficulty or hindrance of any kind in seeing Him. So if you are able not to be overcome in performing the prayer before sunrise (Fajr) and the prayer before sunset (Asr) (that is, to offer them on time), then be sure to do so."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will soon conquer Egypt, and it is a land where the qirat (as a measure) is mentioned. So when you conquer it, accept the counsel to treat its people well (be kind to them), for they have a covenant (of protection) and (with us) a bond of kinship. And when you see two men quarrelling over the space of a (mere) brick (there), then leave it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tomorrow you will surely face the enemy, so (for recognition) your watchword and slogan should be: 'Ha Mim, la yunsarun' (They will never be victorious)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"After me you will see others being preferred over you (in matters of government), so be patient (with it) until you meet me tomorrow at the Pond (of Kawthar)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You have complained of the drought in your lands and of the rain being delayed from its appointed time, while Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has commanded you (to supplicate) and promised you that He will answer you. 'All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Recompense' [Surah al-Fatihah: 2-4]. There is no true god except Allah; He does what He wills. 'La ilaha illallahu yaf'alu ma yurid, Allahumma anta Allahu la ilaha illa anta al-Ghaniyyu wa nahnu al-fuqara', anzil 'alayna al-ghaytha waj'al ma anzalta lana quwwatan wa balaghan ila hin' (O Allah, You are Allah, there is none worthy of worship except You; You are the Free of all needs and we are all the needy. Send down rain upon us, and make what You send down for us a source of strength and a means of sustenance until an appointed time)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will never attain this matter (of government and caliphate) by force and seizing it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will never see your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, until you die (that is, seeing Allah is not possible in the life of this world)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You will continue to be counted as in a state of prayer as long as you keep waiting (sitting in the mosque) for the (next) prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tomorrow morning you are going to face your enemy, and breaking the fast will give you more strength, so break your fast (that is, do not keep it)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Your term (of remaining in the world) compared to the nations that have passed before is only like the time from the Asr prayer until sunset. Indeed, the example of you and of the Jews and Christians is like that of a man who hired some labourers and said: Who will work for me from morning until midday for one qirat (wage) each? So the Jews worked. Then he said: Who will work for me from midday until the Asr prayer for one qirat (wage) each? So the Christians worked. Then he said: Who will work for me from the Asr prayer until sunset for two qirats (wage) each? And you are those (workers). At this the Jews and Christians became angry and said: What is wrong with us that we worked more and received less wage? He (the owner) said: Have I wronged you in any way in giving you your agreed wage? They said: No. Then He (Allah) said: This is My bounty; I give it to whomever I will."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What I fear most for my Ummah is misguiding leaders (and rulers)."
