Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That I sit (after the morning prayer) remembering Allah, proclaiming His greatness, praising Him, glorifying Him and reciting 'La ilaha illallah', and that I do so until the sun rises, is more beloved to me than freeing two or more slaves from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him). And that I do so from after Asr until the sun sets is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him)."

In one narration the words are: "That I keep reciting the takbir, tahlil and tasbih from true dawn until the sun rises is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him); and that I keep remembering Allah from the Asr prayer until the sun sets is more beloved to me than freeing such-and-such a number of slaves from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him)." Ahmad recorded all of these narrations, and al-Tabarani recorded a narration similar to the second one; their chains are hasan (good).

Umayr bin al-Ma'mum narrates: I came to Madinah to visit my cousin, who was the wife of Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both). I attended the morning prayer with Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Prophet's Mosque. That day was the walimah of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both). The messenger of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) came and said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, today is the walimah of Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubayr, and he has sent me to you." Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) turned to me and asked: "Has the sun risen?" I replied: "I think it must have risen." He said: "All praise of every kind belongs to Allah Almighty, who has made it rise from its appointed place of rising." Then he related: I heard my father and my maternal grandfather, that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), say: "Whoever, after performing the morning prayer, sits remembering Allah Almighty until the sun rises, Allah Almighty places a barrier between that person and Hell." Then he said: "Get up and come to Ibn al-Zubayr's invitation!" The narrator says: When we reached the door, Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) met him at the door. Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, today you were late in coming to me." Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "I have accepted your invitation, although I am fasting." Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Then here is a gift." Then Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard my father and my maternal grandfather, that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), say: "The gift of the fasting person is fragrance: that he perfumes his beard, perfumes his clothes and spreads it." The narrator says: I said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, repeat this to me." He said: I heard my father and my maternal grandfather, that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), say: "Whoever keeps coming and going to the mosque learns a decisive verse, or attains an awaited mercy, or acquires some knowledge, or learns some word that increases his guidance or that turns some evil away from him, or that person abandons sins out of fear or modesty."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Sa'id bin Tarif al-Hadhdha', and he is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting, and with him were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal and Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them). Meanwhile a messenger from a military expedition he had sent arrived. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have never seen a military expedition that returned more quickly than these men, or that obtained more spoils than they did." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr, shall I not guide you to that in which a man returns more quickly than this and obtains more spoils than this? Whoever performs the morning prayer in congregation and then keeps remembering Allah until the sun rises."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator Humayd, the freed slave of Ibn Alqamah, and he is da'if (weak).
