Ata' bin al-Sa'ib narrates: I came to Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami (may Allah have mercy on him); he had performed the morning prayer and was sitting in the mosque. I said to him: "If you were to get up and go to your bed, it would be more comfortable for you." He said: I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever performs the morning prayer and then remains sitting at his place of prayer, the angels keep invoking mercy upon him, and the angels' supplication for him is: 'O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him!' (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says:) And whoever is waiting for the prayer, the angels invoke blessings upon him too, and their supplication for that person is: 'O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him!'"
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and the narrator Ata' bin al-Sa'ib suffered from confusion (ikhtilat).
