Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When my Companions are mentioned, hold back (from criticising them)." After this the narrator mentioned the full hadith, which has already passed as a lengthy report in the Book of Divine Decree (al-Qadar). Its chain contains a narrator, Mushir bin Abd al-Malik, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is disagreement about him; its remaining narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever guards my honour regarding my Companions will come to my Pond, and whoever does not guard my honour regarding my Companions will see me on the Day of Resurrection only from afar."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Habib, the scribe of Imam Malik, who is matruk (abandoned).

Tariq bin Shihab narrates: Once there was a dispute between Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) was mentioned negatively in the presence of Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "Stop! For the disagreement that is between us has not reached our religion."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Urwah bin al-Zubayr narrates: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) met Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) in the market, and the two of them argued with each other about something concerning the affair of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) began to speak harshly to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Do you not hear what he is saying to me?" So Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) struck Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) until he fell down.

Abu Rashid narrates: Some men from the people of Basrah came to Ubayd bin Umayr and said: "Your brothers from the people of Basrah have asked you about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said: "Have you come only for this purpose?" They replied: "Yes." So he recited this verse: "That is a nation which has passed away. It will have what it earned, and you will have what you earn, and you will not be asked about what they used to do."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

We said: "If we live to see that time, we will surely be destroyed?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Being killed is sufficient for my Companions."

Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: Allah, the Exalted, says: "And fear a trial which will not afflict exclusively those among you who have done wrong." Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), in the time of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and in the time of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) we used to talk about this, and we did not think that we would be the people concerned with it, until this trial descended among us."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Hajjaj bin Nusayr, whom Ibn Hibban mentioned in Kitab al-Thiqat, saying: "He makes mistakes and errs." According to one report Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy), and a group declared him da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until two great groups fight each other, and the claim (or call) of both will be the same."
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Shabib, who is extremely da'if (weak).

Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I saw what my Ummah will face after me, and how they will shed one another's blood, and what has already been decreed about this from Allah Almighty, just as it was decreed beforehand for the nations before them. So I supplicated to Allah Almighty that He grant me intercession for them on the Day of Resurrection, and He did so."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat) recorded it, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih, except that in Ahmad's narration it is stated that Ibn Abi Husayn says: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this to us from Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), whereas in al-Tabarani's narration it is reported from al-Zuhri from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to Ubaydullah bin Ziyad to visit him in his illness. Sayyiduna Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The punishment of this Ummah will be by the sword, and their appointed time is the Hour, and the Hour is more grievous and more bitter."
