Book of Tribulations (may Allah protect us from them)
بَابٌ فِيمَا كَانَ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَالسُّكُوتِ عَمَّا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ .
What occurred between the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and keeping silent about their disputes

وَعَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُعَاقَبُ عُقُوبَةً شَدِيدَةً ، فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " عُقُوبَةُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بِالسَّيْفِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abu Burdah narrates: I came out from Ubaydullah bin Ziyad and saw him inflicting a severe punishment. Then I came and sat with one of the Companions, and he told me: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The punishment of this Ummah will be by the sword."
