Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates from his father: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe our faces before the prayer and supplicate for blessing for us. One day I came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped the faces of the people on my right and on my left and left me out. The reason was that I had visited a sister of mine, and she had put a little yellow (dye, or the perfume called khaluq) on my face. I was told: "The Messenger of Allah left you out because he saw (the yellow dye) on your face." I went to a well, entered it and washed. Then I attended the next prayer, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me, wiped my face, supplicated for blessing for me and said: "Al-Ala' has returned with the best of his religion; he has repented, and the sky has sent down rain."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
