وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - قَالَ : مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِقَوْمٍ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُتَخَلِّقٌ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَعْرَضَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سَلَّمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَعْرَضْتَ عَنِّي ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْكَ حُمْرَةً " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people among whom was a man who had applied khaluq. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) greeted those people with salam and turned his face away from that man. The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, you greeted them with salam and turned your face away from me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is redness between your eyes."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
