Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8756

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Some people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance to him, and among them was a man with a trace of khaluq on his hand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept taking their pledges and kept putting that man back. Then he said: "The perfume of men is that whose scent is apparent and whose color is hidden, and the perfume of women is that whose color is apparent and whose scent is hidden."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) will come after this in the chapter on perfume.
