عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ بَيْتًا أَوْسَعَ مِنْهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ وَهُوَ مُتَكَلَّمٌ فِيهِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty builds for him in Paradise a house larger than it."

وَعَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ : جَاءَ وَاثِلَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْقَعِ وَنَحْنُ نَبْنِي مَسْجِدَنَا قَالَ : فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْنَا فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ بَنَى مَسْجِدًا فَصَلَّى فِيهِ بَنَى اللَّهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْخُشَنِيُّ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ وَابْنُ مَعِينٍ فِي رِوَايَةٍ وَوَثَّقَهُ فِي رِوَايَةٍ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ دُحَيْمٌ وَأَبُو حَاتِمٍ .

Bishr bin Hayyan narrates: Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) came while we were building our mosque. He stopped by us and greeted us with salam, then he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever builds a mosque and prays in it, Allah Almighty builds for him in Paradise a house more excellent than it."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Yahya al-Khushani. Imam al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him), and Yahya bin Ma'in according to one report, declared him da'if (weak); according to another report Yahya declared him thiqah (trustworthy), and Duhaym and Abu Hatim declared him thiqah.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Yahya al-Khushani. رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah Almighty, even if it is the size of the hollow a qata (sandgrouse) digs (for its eggs), Allah Almighty builds for him a house in Paradise."

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever builds, for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, a mosque the size of the hollow a qata (sandgrouse) digs (for its eggs), Allah Almighty builds for him a house in Paradise."

رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالْبَزَّارُ خَلَا قَوْلَهُ : " مِنْ دُرٍّ وَيَاقُوتٍ " ، وَفِيهِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْيَمَامِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever, from lawful wealth, builds a house in which Allah Almighty is worshipped, Allah Almighty builds for him a house in Paradise of pearls and rubies."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and Imam al-Bazzar also recorded it, but he did not transmit the words "of pearls and rubies." Its chain contains a narrator, Sulayman bin Dawud al-Yamami, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " قُلْتُ : وَهَذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدُ الَّتِي فِي طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ ؟ قَالَ : " وَتِلْكَ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ ، وَفِيهِ كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ضَعَّفَهُ الْعَقِيلِيُّ ، وَذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ فِي الثِّقَاتِ .

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will build for him a house in Paradise." I asked: "And these mosques that are on the road to Makkah?" He said: "Those too (are included in this ruling)."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat in abridged form; its chain contains a narrator, Kathir bin Abd al-Rahman, whom al-Uqayli declared da'if (weak), and Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned him in the book "al-Thiqat".

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا لَا يُرِيدُ بِهِ رِيَاءً وَلَا سُمْعَةً بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَفِيهِ الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، ضَعَّفَهُ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ وَجَمَاعَةٌ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ فِي رِوَايَةٍ وَضَعَّفَهُ فِي أُخْرَى .

رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ذَكَرَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي تَارِيخِهِ وَقَالَ : فِيهِ نَظَرٌ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ أَيْضًا ، وَذَكَرَهَ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ فِي الثِّقَاتِ وَسَمَّى أَبَاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ مُكَبَّرًا .

And whoever digs a grave for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty builds for him a house in Paradise, and if he dies that same day, Allah Almighty forgives him."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Imran bin Abdullah, who is in fact Ibn Ubaydullah. Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned him in his Tarikh and said: There is room for reservation about him (fihi nazar). Yahya bin Ma'in also declared him da'if (weak). Ibn Hibban mentioned him in the book "al-Thiqat" and gave his father's name as Abdullah, in the non-diminutive form (mukabbar).

Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Build mosques and remove the rubbish from them. Whoever builds a mosque for Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will build for him a house in Paradise." A man submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, these mosques that are built along the road (do they have the same ruling too)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, and removing rubbish from the mosque is the dowry of the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise (al-hur al-in)."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The people were carrying bricks for the construction of the mosque, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with them. The narrator says: I came face to face with the Messenger of Allah, and he was holding a brick against his stomach. I thought that perhaps it was burdensome for him, so I said: "Hand it to me, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Hurayrah, take another (brick), for there is no life except the life of the Hereafter."

I began carrying stones just as the people were carrying them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people of Yamamah, you are the most skilled at preparing wet clay, so prepare the clay for us." The narrator says: So I began preparing the clay for them, and they kept carrying it.

وَعَنْ سَيَّارِ بْنِ الْمَعْرُورِ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بَنَى هَذَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ الزِّحَامُ فَلْيَسْجُدْ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ أَخِيهِ ، وَرَأَى قَوْمًا يُصَلُّونَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَقَالَ : صَلُّوا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ .

Sayyar bin Ma'rur narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon, saying: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) built this mosque, and we, the Muhajirun and the Ansar, were with him. When the crowd becomes heavy, let one of you prostrate on the back of his brother." He saw some people praying in the road, and he said: "Pray in the mosque."

وَعَنْ الْقَاسِمِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : أَوَّلُ مَنِ اقْتَبَسَ الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ بَنَى مَسْجِدًا لِلَّهِ يُصَلَّى فِيهِ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَيَأْتِي بِتَمَامِهِ فِي الْجِهَادِ فِي الرَّمْيِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَإِسْنَادُهُ مُنْقَطِعٌ .

Qasim bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The first person to learn the Qur'an from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah was Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him); the first person to build a mosque in which prayer is offered was Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him); and the first person to give the call to prayer (adhan) was Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَعَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ : لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ جَعَلَ يَقُولُ : احْمِلُوهَا وَارْغَبُوا فِي حَمْلِهَا ؛ فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْمِلُ وَمَوَالِيهَا بِاللَّيْلِ حِجَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى ، وَكُنَّا نَحْمِلُ بِالنَّهَارِ حَجَرَيْنِ حَجَرَيْنِ .

It is reported about Sayyiduna Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him): When his wife passed away, he began saying: "Carry her, and be eager to carry her, for she and her freed slave-women used to carry stones by night for the mosque whose foundation was laid on piety, while we used to carry two stones at a time by day."
