Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1957

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A woman used to clear the rubbish from the mosque. She passed away, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not informed of her burial. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone among you dies, inform me." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for that woman and said: "I have seen this woman in Paradise, and the reason is that she used to clean the mosque."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and in his biographies of the women he mentioned that she was the woman named al-Kharqa', a black woman who used to clean the mosque of the Messenger of Allah. After this statement he cited a chain from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: then the narrator mentioned this hadith. The narrators of the chain of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) are the narrators of the Sahih, while the chain of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) contains Abd al-Aziz bin Fa'id, who is majhul (unknown); it has been said that he is Fa'id bin Umar, but that is an error. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) also belongs to this chapter; it has already passed in the chapter before this one on cleaning the mosque, and it states: This deed is the dowry of the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise (al-hur al-'in).
