Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while his Companions were building (the mosque). The narrator says: It seemed as though their work did not please the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says: I took hold of the spade and began mixing the clay with it, and my taking hold of the spade and my work pleased the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave the Hanafi to the clay, for he prepares the clay better than all of you."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Ayyub bin Utbah, about whose trustworthiness there is disagreement.
