Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was laying the foundations of the mosque of Madinah. I began carrying stones just as the people were carrying them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people of Yamamah, you are the most skilled at preparing wet clay, so prepare the clay for us." The narrator says: So I began preparing the clay for them, and they kept carrying it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Muhammad bin Jabir al-Yamami, whom Ahmad and others declared da'if (weak), and there is disagreement about using him as evidence.
