The occasion of revelation of Surah al-Muddaththir

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the word "ar-rijz" in the noble verse "And keep away from filth" with a kasrah on the ra. [Surah al-Muddaththir: 5]
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this blessed verse with a dammah on the ra: "wa ar-rujza fahjur", and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It means the idols." [Surah al-Muddaththir: 5]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was speaking about the period when revelation paused. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I said (to my family): Cover me with a cloth, cover me with a cloth. Then Allah Almighty revealed these verses: 'O you who are wrapped in a cloak! Arise and warn, and magnify your Lord, and purify your garments, and keep away from ar-rujz.'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said that it means the idols. [Surah al-Muddaththir: 1-5]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it with these words.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a cave when the surah "Wa al-mursalati 'urfa" was revealed. I took it directly from his blessed mouth (peace and blessings be upon him) while his blessed tongue was still moist with its recitation. I do not remember with which verse he (peace and blessings be upon him) ended the surah: "Then in what statement after this will they believe?" [Surah al-Mursalat: 50] or "And when it is said to them: Bow down (before Allah), they do not bow down." [Surah al-Mursalat: 48]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will be gathered (on the Day of Resurrection) naked, barefoot and uncircumcised." His pure wife said: Will we look at one another's private parts? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so! 'Every person among them that Day will have a concern that will make him indifferent to others.'" [Surah Abasa: 37]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this verse with "bi-zanin" (with the letter za): "And he (the Prophet) is not suspected regarding (what he conveys of) the unseen." [Surah al-Takwir: 24]
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the word "fa-'addalaka" with a shaddah (heavy): "Who proportioned you, then balanced you." [Surah al-Infitar: 7]
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this way (in the feminine form): "Yes indeed! My verses came to you, but you denied them, were arrogant, and were among the disbelievers." [Surah al-Zumar: 59]
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked: Do you know how vast Hell is? The narrator said: I said: I do not know. He said: By Allah! You do not know that between the earlobe (of the people of Hell) and their shoulder is a distance of seventy years' journey, in which valleys of pus and blood will flow. I asked: Will they be rivers? He said: No, rather valleys. Then Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) related that the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrated to him that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this verse: "And they did not appraise Allah with His true appraisal, while the entire earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection and the heavens will be folded in His right hand" [Surah al-Zumar: 67], and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: 'Ana al-Jabbar, ana ana' (I am the Compeller, I am, I am), and the Lord glorified Himself." The narrator said that (as he said this) the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) shook so much that we thought (in fear) that he might fall.
