Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3032

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will be gathered (on the Day of Resurrection) naked, barefoot and uncircumcised." His pure wife said: Will we look at one another's private parts? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so! 'Every person among them that Day will have a concern that will make him indifferent to others.'" [Surah Abasa: 37]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (3332) narrated it from 'Abd bin Humayd, and al-Nasa'i (11583) from Abu Dawud al-Harrani, both of them from 'Arim Muhammad bin al-Fadl, from Thabit bin Yazid, with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Except that 'Abd bin Humayd made it a narration of Hilal bin Khabbab from 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas, whereas the mention of 'Ikrimah by this route is "ghayr mahfuz" (not preserved). For Abd Allah bin Mu'awiyah al-Jumahi also narrated it from Thabit bin Yazid, in al-Tabarani's "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (12439), and said in it: Hilal bin Khabbab from Sa'id bin Jubayr (instead of 'Ikrimah). Likewise 'Abbad bin al-'Awwam narrated it from Hilal in al-Tabari's "Tafsir" 17/ 102 (via Sa'id bin Jubayr), and this is what is "mahfuz" (correct).
Note / Clarification: The wife mentioned here is 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), as her hadith will come with the author under numbers (8898) and (8903).
Reference / Source: The hadith of Ibn 'Abbas was also recorded, but without the wife's words about the private parts ('awrat), by: Ahmad 3/ (1913); al-Bukhari (6524) and (6525); Muslim (2860) (57); al-Nasa'i (2219); and Ibn Hibban (7318), (7321) and (7322), by way of 'Amr bin Dinar from Sa'id bin Jubayr.
Reference / Source: Likewise Ahmad 4/ (2096) and (2281); al-Bukhari (3349); Muslim (2860) (58); al-Tirmidhi (2423) and (3167); al-Nasa'i (2225), (11095) and (11274); and Ibn Hibban (7347) narrated it by way of al-Mughirah bin al-Nu'man from Sa'id bin Jubayr. (Note: combined with it is the hadith that will come with the author under number 3714.)
