Do you find any concession for me?" Upon this Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "Except for one who repents, believes and does righteous deeds; for such people Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds, and Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful." [Surah Al-Furqan: 70] Wahshi said: "O Muhammad, this is a very hard condition, 'except for one who repents, believes and does righteous deeds'; perhaps I will not be able to fulfil it." Upon this Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners be associated with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whomever He wills." [Surah Al-Nisa: 48] Wahshi said: "O Muhammad, I see that this (forgiveness) depends on His will, so I do not know whether I will be forgiven or not. Is there anything other than this?" Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah; indeed, Allah forgives all sins; He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful." [Surah Al-Zumar: 53] Wahshi said: "This is enough." So he came and accepted Islam. The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, what if we commit the same sins that Wahshi committed?"
